Spice and Wolf Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf Episode 13 was calming and sweet. Let’s see how the 13th episode was compared to the last one.
Spice and Wolf Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf Episode 12 Recap
In this episode, Lawrence is in a dire situation, struggling to free himself and save his companions. After much effort, he manages to burn the rope binding his wrists using a nearby wood fire. Despite this small victory, much remains to be done. Fortunately, Holo arrives, though she is visibly displeased with the sacrifices she must make to ensure everyone’s safety.

Holo, an ancient and wise wolf, commands great respect in the werewolf world and carries herself with immense pride. However, she had to submit to a newly born werewolf who pursued Lawrence and his group to avoid further chaos. This indignity frustrates her, and she does not hide her feelings from Lawrence, who is already in a precarious situation.
Despite her distaste for the task, Holo decides to confront their enemies to protect Nora, the shepherd. Her fierce charge with Lawrence on her back is both terrifying and impressive, showcasing her formidable power. Lawrence is fortunate to have such a powerful ally.
The episode concludes with an unexpected twist. Lawrence devises a clever plan to save himself, highlighting his business acumen.
Spice and Wolf Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf Episode 13 Review and Recap

Today’s episode brings us the aftermath of what happened with Lawrence after he failed with his armour business. He is finally debt-free and has the time to spend some time in leisure. However, he is not alone; he is drinking and chatting with two people. One is his journey partner, Holo, and the other is the shepherd called Nora.
Both Nora and Lawrence seem to be enjoying their time while talking about menial things. But Holo, who does not like the shepherd girl at all, is not thrilled to be a part of their table. Not only that, but she is also feeling ill, making her dizzy. That is when she loses consciousness and later wakes up in her bed, where she laments showing her weak side to Lawrence and becomes jealous of the connection Lawrence and Nora have.

However, her concerns were very quickly gone when she saw how nicely Lawrence takes care of her. He also studied lots of books in a panic so that he could totally help Holo recover. Seeing this, Holo is definitely touched, and she even comments on a very intimate gesture that Lawrence initiates without knowing its meaning within the werewolf community.
Throughout this episode, Holo also reminisces about her life in the village when she used to be revered as a God. She accepts how she felt lonely, but did her duty, even though she did not ask for it. She stayed there to protect the village because she knew she could not abandon them. But now that she is travelling with Lawrence, she is genuinely rediscovering herself and becoming happy again. This sort of confession and her unnecessary hate towards Nora, specifically when Lawrence and Nora talk with each other, solidifies Holo’s love for Lawrence.

Verdict
This episode mainly focused on a sick Holo and her inner feelings. Along with that, we see a very competent caregiver in Lawrence, who despite being clumsy, tries his best to take care of his companion. But whether Holo’s hate for Nora diminishes towards the end of the episode or not, is something that you will have to see for yourself.
