GOT7’s BamBam has returned with his much-awaited solo comeback with the Sour and Sweet MV on March 28, 2023. Following the release of his mini album B in 2022, today marks his first full album release, led by the titular single. The video has a runtime of 3 minutes, and it almost spans a short movie with BamBam seemingly trying to chase a love interest.
The song’s title is quite misleading, along with the accompanying music video. At one glance, both of them work together to make it seem like the narrative hiding underneath the storyline is about him following his love interest. However, once you take a second look at the song’s lyrics, a new meaning starts to form in your mind.

While Sour and Sweet can easily fit into the understanding of a relationship, lyrics like “Sometimes I could be more than what you see”, “Every single person has b-side”, and “Evil and Good can’t be apart, my two side” highlight that he’s also talking about one’s personality, which is like the two sides of the same coin. The same idea in the Thai K-pop idol’s music video is carried through visions of him wearing a mask or switching the sides of a double-sided jacket, one bearing a dark front and the other taking on a whiter look.
The singer shifts from one location to another; some even assume a grander cinematic look, especially when he completes his dance routine beside the sea. Conversely, some scenes also leave the story open to the audience’s interpretation by making the whole thing look like a crime scene, with BamBam at its centre, trying to solve the mystery as a detective.
His leading track has an easy-breezy tonality, with its overall dance-pop harmony building out the soundscape. Additionally, his first full album has seven other songs on the list, all of which have been co-written by the singer. Songs like Take It Easy, Ghost and Tippy Toe even had him working on their composition.
