Stand-up Review: Comedy At Its Best

Snoop Dogg hosted a night of the best laughs and sang some of his greatest hits and then invited top-notch comedians to the stage for incredibly funny sets. He is known for his famous Drop It Like It’s Hot song featuring the famous Pharrell Williams and has recently made the headlines for owning Death Row Records. He celebrated the news with a drink on stage.

He wished to have a fun and safe night with lots of drinks and getting high. His performance was pretty good as usual and after that, he took a seat on the sofa at the adjacent stage with some lovely ladies present to give him company. The first standup to take the stage was Katt Williams. He’s one of the most recognizable faces in comedy today, and his standup specials are some of the most hilarious things on Netflix. And now he’s back for more and definitely doesn’t disappoint.

Filmed in may, so he started his set with a rendition of the trending Will Smith controversy by pacing around the stage throughout, in case somebody tries the same with him then he will quickly flee. He gave a good minute talk about how delicious ox-tails are but ain’t nobody has heard of any ox’s in America. It’s like he is trying to create a conspiracy theory about the ox which is hilarious.

Katt Williams

After his almost 10-minute set, he sits down with Snoop Dogg and talks about how his Netflix special with him came to life. Following Katt, Deray Davis comes up the stage who is an American stand-up comedian and actor best known for his role as Ray the Hustle Guy in the Barbershop film series. While entering the stage he mentions that today he looks like Queen Latifah and honestly I can see an uncanny resemblance here.

His take on male strip clubs and the name suggestions for them is hilarious and worth making a viral Youtube Shorts out of it. He then gives way for Melanie Camarcho who makes it her own show with a little collaboration with the audience. Whenever she says ‘ladies’ the audience replies back ‘hello’, whose tones keep changing according to the preceding punch line.

Guy Torry comes next on stage and talks about being a germaphobe and how he survived in the last years. He performs a skit about black mothers as compared to others. He is also an actor and his most notable role was as a convict named Lamont in American History X. Following him Donnell Rawlings was introduced by Snoop as the star of the gritty Starz drama BMF. Where he was called to do five episodes and has filmed nine.

Donnell Rawlings

He incorporated lyrics of WAP in his set and for a good second, nobody could recognise the song lyrics until he reached the popular part of the lyrics. The last comedian in the lineup was Mike Epps who walked on the stage wearing body-fitted leather pants and called it the reason for his funny walk. But the hilarious part is the bit when his mic stopped working mid-set and started running away when the stage crew came to give another mic to him.

Final Thoughts: Stream It or Skip It?

Snoop Dogg’s F*cn Around Comedy Special on Netflix is a definite stream after a long day and in need of some good laughs. I genuinely wish Snoop Dogg could host more of these comedy shows on Netflix. The stand-up special is definitely on the top list of all the specials that were released in the past few weeks. The comedians didn’t resort to the same jokes about past difficult years and brought their usual hilarious selves to the stage. The crowd seemed to be enjoying themselves as well, or it could be the drinks.

Snoop Dogg’s F*cn Around Comedy Special is streaming on Netflix.
