It feels like yesterday when SM Entertainment’s very own out-of-the-ordinary duo of EXO Xiumin and NCT Mark got together for Young & Free. However, in all likelihood, the two joined forces in 2017 for the SM Station release, and after 5 years they’re collaborating for another round in Xiumin’s upcoming first solo album Brand New.
How We Do is a B-side featured on the album and will establish Xiumin’s soundscape by fusing modern elements with the ’90s signature. On September 21, 2022, SM announced that the vocalist-rapper duo will be coming together for this release and it is now one of the most anticipated songs on the album.

In their previous collaboration as well, both Xiumin and Mark shared a bubbly camaraderie that instantly riled up a fan club of its own, uniting both the fandoms of EXO (EXO-Ls) and NCT (NCTzens). Although EXO officially debuted in 2012 and NCT was introduced by SM Entertainment in 2016, both groups have shared the screen on several occasions and now serve as two of the prime building factors of the company, while sharing an amiable brotherhood with each other.
Fans have also craved for their groups’ union of any sort, especially since Xiumin’s fellow band mates Baekhyun and Kai were announced as members of SM’s super group SuperM in 2019, alongside a few other NCT members including Mark. It’s always a treat for us all when these forces collide and create musical harmony.
It’s too early to speculate anything but if a music video for this track is also released in addition to the title track, then views for the video are not going to stop climbing. Although EXO Xiumin is foremost perceived to be a vocalist and Mark is the main rapper in NCT, they both hone their dancing talents as well, and it would be a delightful opportunity to have them back together for yet another MV.
