The much-anticipated premier album of the first MONSTA X subunit is almost here, and we’re counting down the days by now going through the recently unveiled Shown X Hyungwon The Unseen tracklist that boasts the group’s classic quality by staying in touch with the various shades of love. Much like their group album songs, the new subunit is again set to delve into the matter of love and pull apart all notions related to it. It’s only a matter of time before we get to hear what the melodies of the dancing unit sound like.
Also known as the “XXL Line” (owing to their tall visage and broad shoulders) of the group, Shownu and Hyungwon’s first mini album is set to release this month, and now the tracklist update has announced that it will be consisting of five songs. And once again, Chae Hyung-won, mononymously known as Hyungwon, has participated in the music-making process of the album.

He’s previously been credited for his lyricism on several songs of the group as well for arranging and composing tracks like Lone Ranger (Beautiful Liar), Where Is This Love and Bad Liar (fellow group member Kihyun’s solo EP Youth), Complicated (AB6IX’s Take a Chance), Wildfire (only lyrics and music) and Mercy (Shape of Love), Secrets (One of a Kind), Nobody Else (Fatal Love) and more. And he’s been joined by his dear friend, DJ Justin Oh, on all these ventures.
Shownu X Hyungwon The Unseen Tracklist
For The Unseen too, he and Oh and have come together yet again for two songs. The five singles listed on the tracklist are Love Me a Little, Love Therapy, Roll With Me, Play Me and Slow Dance. For both Love Me a Little and Roll With Me, MONSTA X Hyungwon and Justin Oh have worked on the lyrics, composition and arrangement of the tracks alongside other musicians.
The leader of MONSTA X Shownu has recently returned after completing his mandatory military service, while the second eldest member, Minhyuk has already headed out for his following him, and now Joohoney, who’d released his debut solo album Lights in May 2023, will surprisingly be the third member of the band to go.
Typically, if we’d considered them to go chronologically then Kihyun and Hyungwon were next in line, but since the latter is engaged in his upcoming subunit album promotions, he’s likely to head out later. As for the former, Kihyun’s reason hasn’t been disclosed yet. Could this be a sign of him working on another album before he takes off for his military stint too? We’ll have to wait and find out.
