Shooting Stars Episode 12 Recap: Gong Tae-sung’s Career Is At Stake

Shooting Stars(별똥별) is a 2022 Korean Drama featuring Lee Sung-kyung, Kim Young-dae, Yoon Jong-hoon, Kim Yoon-hye, Park So-jin and Lee Jung-shin. The series is directed by Lee Soo-hyun and runs for 16 episodes. Shooting Stars Episode 12 has a runtime of 59 minutes and is titled Rumours Of A Rumour Of A Rumour.

In Shooting Stars Episode 12, Han-byul covers collapsed Tae-sung from the journalists and Do Soo-hyuk helps her by chasing them away. Jung-yeol arrives just in time and takes Tae-sung to the hospital. Han-byul leaves Tae-sung in Jung-yeol’s care to take care of the rumours regarding Tae-sung and Si-woo. She declines the rumours in a PR notice but the internet is going wild with speculations.

The rumours started with Min-kyu sending some reporters a mail with Si-woo and Tae-sung’s pictures. What started with questioning their relationship turned into their dating rumour. Si-woo divorced her husband because of Si-woo and they have been in a relationship for seven years. Tae-sung was two-timing Lawyer Do and Eun Si-woo. All the ridiculous rumours slander Tae-sung to show him as an awful person.

Tae-sung goes to his shooting set even when he feels tired only because he doesn’t want to be a nuisance to others. However, the director has cancelled Tae-sung’s shoot. They want to see people’s reactions and if it gets worse, Tae-sung might get replaced in the show. To protest against it, Da-hye takes a stand and refuses to work if Tae-sung won’t be working. She asks the director to shoot her individual scenes until Tae-sung comes back.

Ki-ppeum’s boss has been asking her to write speculative and disrespectful articles about Tae-sung. She cannot hear it anymore and finally stands against her boss without thinking about getting fired. Her boss wants her to write what people want to read even though they are factually not true. Ki-ppeum tells her that she can’t do it and calls Lawyer Do. Lawyer Do tells her and her boss that he will sue everyone who wrote a disrespectful article regarding Tae-sung.

Tae-sung’s mother had abandoned him as a kid because she didn’t want the world to know that she had a child when she was at the peak of her career. This left a deep scar on Tae-sung’s heart because he never felt loved or cared for and didn’t have anyone to call his own. That is why he doesn’t want the world to know what his real relationship with Eun Si-woo is. However, after seeing how far the rumours have gone, Han-byul and Yu-sung think that they have no choice but to reveal the truth if they want to save Tae-sung’s career.

In Shooting Stars Episode 12, we see an extremely toxic side of infamous Korean netizens. The opinions of random people who hate a certain celebrity are heard and acknowledged as the truth and they call it a public sentiment. One comment made out of resentment toward an artist can create huge chaos which happened in the case of Tae-sung. Even when the artist is not at fault, they have to reveal their personal matters against their will or lose their career. An artist creates entertainment for viewers and some people like to see an artist’s personal life as entertainment.
