Shantaram Episode 9 finds Lin giving a farewell to his friends and love interest Karla before his identity gets exposed. The latest instalment of the drama series is directed by Bronwen Hughes, while it is helmed by Eric Warren Singer and Steve Lightfoot. Moreover, the total runtime of the episode is fifty-eight minutes.
The complete cast of the series includes Alexander Siddig as Abdel Khader Khan, Shubham Saraf as Prabhu, Luke Pasqualino as Maurizio, Elektra Kilbey as Lisa Carter, Alyy Khan as Qasim Ali, Matthew Joseph as Ravi, Sujaya Dasgupta as Kavita, Antonia Desplat as Karla, and Fayssal Bazzi as Abdullah Taheri. Moreover, the latest episode is titled Apo Vai Pranah. Furthermore, the title of the ninth instalment is Should I Stay or Should I Go.
-Shantaram Episode 9 Review Does Not Contain Spoilers-
The episode starts with Lin teaching Parvati the necessary instructions for Sagar Wada’s medical treatment so that she could be the new doctor of the slum in his absence. The philosophical fugitive decides to pack up the bags for a final time and leave the city before his past comes to haunt him back.
Moreover, the episode also ventures further into Lin’s backstory and finds officer Wally Nightingale inching closer to track him. This time around, we get to see more of the distinctive cop, who is hell-bent on bringing the fugitive to justice.
The enigmatic Karla also opens up to Lin and her feelings about him in the latest instalment. Moreover, she also decides her priority in the course of events, by siding with Lin, instead of Khader Bhai, and trading some confidential information with Kavita. Thereby inviting a series of unwanted consequences from her mentor cum father figure.
I have also given up on the count for Amitabh Bachchan’s Barsaat Ki Ek Raat (1981) being referenced in the series. The tune of Manchali O Manchali is quite stuck in my head, and to be honest, I don’t seem to have any issues with it. The only thing which concerns me at this point is the desolate future of Prabhu (played by Shubham Saraf), who might end up as the Gaitonde of this series.

Initially, the series started out with a meditative tone, which made it easier for Lin to transition into a calm and composed attitude. However, as it all comes to an end, we can feel the sudden shift in the mannerisms, replaced with a thrilling set of events. Even Lin has outgrown his usual persona and transformed into a much more mature character.
So far, the biggest highlight of the series, for me, is the acting calibre of Charlie Hunnam. The kind of pitch-perfect nuances that he has brought in his portrayal of the streaming adaption, is simply a mark of brilliance. Moreover, with the final inching closer, I believe we can only expect more thrust to be added to his performance.
