SEVENTEEN’ FML Album Review
F*ck My Life
F*ck My Life is also a title track whose music video will be released on 8th May instead. The song starts with drum beats that are prominent throughout the song & emphasise the emotional lyrics. The track is almost like a singing rap where the lyrics talk about feeling lost and wanting to find oneself again. The members also said that this is the song that many would empathise with – who feel lost in their lives and will help them find the strength to keep going for themselves.
Super (손오공)
Compared to the previous track, the second title track is completely different from it. While the English title reads Super, the Korean title (손오공) refers to the Monkey King, also known as Sun Wukong. It is a mythical character with super strength and SEVENTEEN is trying to channelise his energy to get through any hardship in life.
Even in the music video, we see the group transitioning into traditional clothes by the second half of the video. It’s a high-energy song that we can imagine as a great intro song for the concert. With choreography inspired by the martial art movement, the lyrics are all about the group’s journey until now & how they won’t look back but will keep going forward with the same blasting energy.
Fire
Fire is by the Hip-hop team consisting of S.Coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu and Vernon. The song is also composed by Wonwoo & Vernon along with Bumzu. The song continues the overall theme of the title track Super, where the four rappers show their impeccable skills and I am sure the hook will be playing in everyone’s head like an earworm. The lyrics similarly suggest the group’s journey & how they are at the top of the game, even after years.

I Don’t Understand But I Luv U
This song is from the performance team consisting of Hoshi, Jun, The8 and Dino. It’s an R&B song with some rock ballad influences and sounds like a secret shared between the group and the fans. As the lyrics that even though they have different languages and are not able to understand each other all the time but still they love them with all their heart.
How so many people who listen to the group don’t really understand the language but the music speaks to them, and they form a connection over it. Hoshi and Dino have also taken part in the lyrics writing along with Woozi and Bumzu, who said that CARATs are the inspiration for the song.
Dust (먼지)
This song is by the vocal team consisting of Woozi, Jeonghan, Joshua, DK and Seungkwan. The synth-pop song compares love to dust and reminisces about the past relationship. The sweet voices of the team, sing about the pain and the piled-up feeling after letting someone that you loved go. On a side note, it would also make a good addition as an anime-ending song.
April Shower
Ending on a positive note, April Shower is a comforting song sung by all the members of the group. It compares the rain with the struggle & hardships but instead, they take it as something that’s important for their journey to grow up or in other words how flowers bloom after the rain showers in the month of April. Woozi also commented how they also debuted in May & the song suggests the feelings that they had just before debut, not knowing that all their hard work will help them in the later months.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the album comforts the listener, motivates them to do better, and gives them a helping hand like a friend, through their music. My favourite track would be I Don’t Understand But I Luv U from the performance team and the title track FML as well.
FML Album is available for streaming on Spotify & YouTube Music.
