Now that the sinkhole is clear on Spruce street, people in their homes are scared to leave. Fear of being displaced is just the beginning. There are certain things that cannot be explained except for the fact that it is Leanne. Who is now working hard to give Jericho a one-year and six-month birthday party because they couldn’t celebrate his first birthday. Dorothy is already annoyed that there is another party after the failed kidnapping attempt Leanne was under.
Meanwhile, Julian has been acting as the perfect little lapdog doing Leanne’s every bidding. He is the one who helped plan the birthday party and ordered all the things that would make it good. Leanne wasn’t able to invite many people, but she did get a zoologist to come to their party. Jude, the party animal, no pun intended, decided to bring animals of all kinds, including a tarantula, a snake, a goat and a ram as well. Knowing Dorothy’s love for the Wizard of Oz, she also got someone to impersonate the character Dorothy.

She is not in the mood to dress up or come to this party. But seeing all the animals and the parents with the kids having fun with the animals, she kind of gets the hang of the party. Leanne is not having a good time. All the animals are attacking her, and she had to change a dress, and then when she did ask Julian to bring out the cake, the ram starts running into the door, trying to attack Leanne. She even went outside to have the cake-cutting ceremony, however, the dog bit her, and Julian fell with the cake on top of him. Chaos once again ensued.
In all this hubub, Bev decides to take Leanne inside because there is a chance her dog bite could get infected. But she has other ideas. She injects Leanne with some sedatives and reveals herself to be a member of the Church of Lesser Saints. While all this hostage situation is going on, Sean and Julian are fighting about Leanne and her presence in the household. Julian feels bad for her, while Sean is confused how his brother in law is in so much denial about Leanne.
Their fight escalates and becomes physical, with both of them making some childish fighting moves. Soon, they start seeing smoke come out of the chimney and run to the basement to see what is happening. Leanne is gagged on the floor, and Bev is holding a lit knife, trying to cut her open. Julian dives to protect her but realises he doesn’t need to do that. His girlfriend is hell-bent on killing Bev, who has started swelling up and choking on her own organs.

Sean calls the police and cleans this up. Bobbie, who heard about all this, goes to Dorothy to tell her that she had no idea about Bev. She then tells her boss that she will be quitting this job. But not before she tells Dorothy about the obsessive relationship Leanne has with the latter. She explains that these bonds are created in childhood and continue long after, even when there is resistance against that. Dorothy remembers Julian talking about Leanne’s past with pageants.
She gets her old tape where she covered the pageant circuit and found a video with Leanne looking at Dorothy with so much adoration. It all finally slips into place, and Dorothy realises just whom she has brought home.
Servant Season 4 Episode 6 Review
Just when we start to think the show may lull is when the story starts picking up all over again. There are relationships running many years deep and have only come forward because of Leanne coming into their home. We see Sean and Julian discussing Jericho’s death for the first time in so long and it is truly refreshing to see that there is still some recognition of the tension we saw in the first season.

Now that all the masks have fallen, we can see the characters clearly for who they are. If we thought Julian was strong initially, we now realise how much he has been hiding his pain behind the typical douchebag personality. Sean, whom we did think of as the initial douchebag, is now a relatable character above everyone.
There is no more fragile Dorothy. Things have changed. This episode made everyone’s place in the story clear. Every archetype that was defined before has now been completely changed. We finally see some of the real Leanne coming to the fore and if we rooted for her before, there is no way we would continue to root for her now.
Even though Servant is a psychological thriller show with some supernatural elements, above all, it is a character study in understanding how family trauma changes the lives of everyone and how invisible the pain is if not indulged. This episode highlighted those dynamics really well while also setting some storyworld rules for how Leanne and her powers function.

I’ve been watching servant, but have had enough. It’s too confusing and ridiculous to waste anymore time on.
