Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania Reactions: Marvelites Claim the Movie Wasn’t All Bad; Mixed Reviews Kick Off Phase 5 With Chaos

All the buzz around Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania has finally found its fruition with its cinematic release on February 17, 2023. However, not all of it has worked in the favour for the first chapter of Phase 5. Starring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as the titular superhero couple, the MCU film has introduced Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror on a full-fledged platform after teasing his presence with the OTT premiere of Loki Season 1.

The third film of its franchise also stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas and Kathryn Newton as the new Cassie Lang. Written by Jeff Loveness, and directed by Peyton Reed yet again, the three-quel has majorly been on the watchlist of many Marvelites because it sets the stage the for next ‘Big Bad’ of the Marvel movies after Thanos. While Rudd’s Scott Lang has always been able to establish a feel-good vibe throughout this series, this one has him up against a lethal force, one that he’s never clashed heads with on his own.

Although he has the support of his squad, the ‘Ant-Family’, the story has somehow let the fans and critics alike down. When the first few critics reviews for the movie rolled out, audiences were perplexed as to what could’ve gone wrong, but some still held on to the belief that they’d be the judge of it all, and not rely on the critics to make up their mind beforehand.

With the fan reactions now coming out on Twitter after the first few shows, the issue still hasn’t been resolved because, while, on one hand a few parties declare it to have kicked off “a rocky start” to the new MCU phase, others have taken a liking to its ‘Star War-sy’ visuals. The reviews from Marvelites are equally tipping over either side of the scale. If one claims Jonathan Majors to be a formidable force, the other rules that possibility out by stating it all to be quite forced.

As always, this Marvel Cinematic Universe addition sports two post-credits scenes too, and somehow, one of them has overshadowed the entire movie’s trajectory. If fans were retaining their endurance while watching the rest of the film, it was only the post-credit scene that made all that time spent worthwhile to them. Despite some major harsh comments from the let down fans of the superhero universe, there are a few watchers who admit to have enjoyed the ride in spite of being well aware of its faults.

Newton being casted as the new Cassie has left many Ant-Man lovers heartbroken as they were looking forward to seeing Emma Fuhrmann, who portrayed the same role in Avengers: Endgame, but was later recasted without any prior notice. Crossfires have arisen in this arena as well since one side of the viewers has liked the change of Kathryn stepping into these steps as Scott’s daughter, while the other side has felt her performance to be quite dry and unfeeling.

Here are some of the fan reactions to the recently released Marvel Studios film. Has this premiere marked a good start to Phase 5? You be the judge of it, and scroll down to leave your thoughts in the comments.
