Let’s take a sneak peek into 5 Honest Revelations by Selena Gomez My Mind and Me

Not wanting to live during the Revival Tour

During her 2016 Revival Tour, Selena gave 55 back-to-back powerful performances for her fans. She owned the stage with her energy and confidence but, now that we get behind the scenes, Selena’s former assistant recalls that the singer was at one point done with her life and wanted to die. Quoting the singer, Theresa says, “At one point, she’s like, ‘I don’t want to be alive right now. I don’t want to live.” She had nothing in her eyes, the assistant tells and it was scary.

Selena’s best friend Raquell reveals that the star was constantly hearing loud voices inside her head that just kept getting louder and louder. All of this led Selena to cancel her tour and enter a psychiatric facility in Tennessee. She was dealing with depression, anxiety and panic attacks at that moment.

Troubled ties with her parents

Selena’s mother, Mandy Teefey made a cameo in her documentary. During her short appearance, Mandy broke down speaking to the camera, revealing that she and Selena’s stepdad only came to know about her daughter’s mental condition through TMZ, who contacted her for an opinion on the matter.

At one point in the documentary, Selena can also be seen crying and regretting her behaviour with her parents. She was admittedly rude and mistreated her mother and her stepdad. Selena recalls how her parents would tell her about her behaviour in the morning and she wouldn’t remember anything.

Body Insecurities during the Revival Tour

Selena was the most relatable at one particular point in the film. During the fittings for her 2016 Revival Tour, she could be seen complaining about her body, calling it “really young” and asking her designer to give her assets through her costumes.

Sel’s vulnerability was loud when she compared her body with that of a 12-year-old boy and expressed her desire to look more like a woman. She cried that her outfits looked “sh***y”. “It just sucks the life out of me, and I don’t want to perform. The pressure is just overwhelming.” complained a broken Selena after watching herself on the big screen.

Towards the end of the film, Gomez can be seen smiling ear to ear and calling their breakup the “Best thing that ever happened”.
