Releasing on June 28, 2023, the second episode of the latest Marvel TV series premiere, titled “Promises”, on Disney+ is inviting strong Secret Invasion episode 2 reactions. Leading the lot, Samuel L Jackson is caught in a dilemma as Nick Fury, with Olivia Colman joining in as the MI6 agent Sonya Falsworth, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Emilia Clarke as G’iah, Kingsley Ben-Adir as Gravik, Don Cheadle as Colonel Rhodes and others.
As the first episode ended with a major character death, Marvel fans are still in denial of what happened on last week’s episode, but since one can’t possibly confirm the true identity of any character in the show due to the massive Skrull invasion on Earth, viewers are holding on to any amount of twinkling hope in sight. However, what has emerged as a hopeful distraction in terms of one character’s fate, it’s equally unleashed havoc for another.
Colonel Rhodes, one of the trusted best friends of the beloved Tony Stark, has always been on the good side, taking the fight to whoever deserves to be dusted. After The Blip, things seemed to have taken a dark turn on all fronts, and now Fury is stranded alone, just like he took off years ago to live in his outer-space peaceful harmony, leaving behind others in peril on the planet.
Cheadle’s Rhodey was sent to fire Fury in Episode 2, and the interaction shared between the two has riled up a strong case of confusion among the audience, who can’t believe this to be the real James Rhodes. Yet, the same conversation around the Skrulls is also bringing in some interestingly unusual opinions and thoughts like one of the Twitter users tweeted, “I just hate how Skrulls can shape shift their clothes too. It’s weird”.
Call it what you will, the threat is imminent indeed, and the one leading the chain of commands is Gravik, played by Kingsley Ben-Adir. Twitter users are also gravitating to his portrayal of the shady character. “The actor playing Gravik is a beast. Marvel found something” was one of the tweets that weighed in on this appreciation for the actor.

One of the most common takeaways since the series commenced running last week has been that Marvelites are absolutely digging the new breath of fresh air that has allowed the Marvel TV show to dip its toes in a darker tone of conflict. The mature approach has been lauded endlessly by many. The second episode’s ending has left the same viewers feeling ambiguous as the news of Fury being married to a Skrull woman has also shaken up the audience. Here’s how they responded to the new episode that may have also laid down a Super-Skrull tease.
