Saint X Episode 5 Recap
In this episode of Saint X, we delve deeper into the past and uncover some new details. We see Josh confronting Emily about her cab driver, and she explains that New York cab drivers are heroes of the city, throwing him off. It is Alison’s birthday, and she has been on edge all day. Sunita has been trying her best to get Emily to work on her documentary and finish the finale, but today is not the day she can take off to uncover answers.
Even after telling her multiple times, Emily does not heed these warnings. She does whatever she wants, including figuring out where Edwin has been after all this time. The last time she and Clive met, he opened up to her about a friend and some betrayal. We are once again taken to the past, where Edwin and Alison are fooling around. She is talking to him about the things from the island, and he lets her know that he knows what is happening between her and Tyler. He’s not mad about it. Instead allows her to pursue multiple romantic interests.
At the same time, Tyler comes ahead and meets with Edwin to ask him about a tour to Faraway Cay. He explains that they can only go if there is a tour guide with them. Otherwise, it is too dangerous. Shrugging that option off, he sets up a picnic so he and Alison can have a romantic evening together. Later, we see her and her dad speaking about Edwin and why being in a relationship with him might mean he might get fired, so they should be careful.

While this is still not telling us why all of this is important, we fast forward to after Alison’s disappearance. Tyler’s dad warns him to stick to the story and not say anything incriminating. On the other side of the island, we see Gogo running away from someplace, and Edwin catches up to him, giving him the opportunity to flee. However, we also see a flight ticket under Edwin’s name, which leads us to believe that he would be going to New York as he had so clearly wished.
However, we are then shown another flashback of Sara and Clive from back in the day when she worked at the hotel, where the two of them are discussing her family and the car. Edwin gets her tires, and she is confused by this whole ordeal because he badmouths her to all his friends while also doing the nicest things for her. She eventually confronts him about this, and he brushes it off completely. But the fact that he is now married to her only indicates that they already had a thing going on.
Edwin gets mad that Sara went ahead and slept with Clive, but she goes on to point out that what the two of them have is also not something great. It is unhealthy and borders on toxic. After this flashback, we see Clive coming to the Caribbean restaurant, where Emily is also sitting silently. The two have a normal conversation before he explains that he has to go see an old friend today. Emily’s interest in this whole thing is too jarring for Clive. He is confused that he has to be a part of this scheme of hers where she has a cab driver friend.

He is more annoyed that he may be some token for her to alleviate her white guilt. That same night, she returns to the office to finish her job and tells Sunita about all of this, hoping she will join. The latter gives clear-cut instructions that she won’t be able to leave the room unless she finishes editing the finale. Skipping on this knowledge, she leaves the room and follows Clive to his meeting location. She is led to an art gallery where a show is being presented. Clive meets his friend Bery, who moved to New York to pursue art.
She gives him a letter, and he expresses that he wants to go back home now. This city has taken a toll on him. Watching all of this from a safe distance, Emily calls Sunita about it, who lets her know that they both have been fired from their jobs. And while this Edwin drama with the letter would have been important before, it definitely does not take priority over both their jobs. The episode almost ends, however, not before we note that Tyler, too, knew about Edwin’s duplicitous nature.
Saint X Episode 5 Review
After a long and winding 5 episodes, at least we have a little more information in this episode. We realise that there are actually many people from the hotel who might be behind Alison’s disappearance, and now there is some more insight into why certain characters are behaving the way they are. However, there is still no excuse for why the main character, who is attributed to be too kind, has no regard for the closest people in her life.

Moreover, the acting has been consistently dropping. Pico Alexander, if you aren’t capable of showing sincerity, it is alright. Stick to the script and be monotonous. His performance has been the bane of this episode. There aren’t many appearances for this man, but every single one in this episode is a tragedy to look at. The storyline doesn’t get better, and neither does the presentation.
