Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 3 Recap

Right from the start, we see Regulus abducting Emilia, claiming her as his bride and intending to marry her. This sudden declaration leaves Subaru and Beatrice stunned and confused by the bizarre situation. Subaru’s encounter with Regulus only highlights how unhinged Regulus truly is. When Subaru questions his motives, Regulus grows angry, offended that Subaru didn’t introduce himself properly when they first met. He rants about how Subaru is infringing on his human rights by failing to observe basic manners.

As if dealing with one madman wasn’t enough, we are introduced to Sirius, the Sin Archbishop of Wrath, whose claims are even more disturbing. When she sees Subaru using his version of the authority of sloth, she mistakes him for Petelgeuse and starts passionately declaring her love for him. Sirius is under the delusion that Petelgeuse loves her, and this has led to an unhealthy obsession with him.

Meanwhile, chaos is spreading across Priestella as two more Sin Archbishops reveal themselves. We later learn that the Witch Cult has seized control of four of the city’s towers, giving them the power to open the floodgates and drown the entire city. This raises the stakes, as not only is Emilia has also been taken by Regulus, but the city is also in danger.

Garf and Mimi come across the very volatile situation of the city and unexpectedly land themselves in trouble. They face off against two members of the Witch Cult, who happens to be extremely strong. Sensing their disadvantage, Mimi pleads to Garf not to engage them in a serious battle and just fend them off for some time to escape to safety. They agree on that plan, and all hell goes down. Their interaction does not come out fruitful as Mimi gets gravely injured, and a very frantic Garf immediately takes her to their shelter.

The situation all around the city is somewhat similar as everyone is getting attacked left and right by the multiple sin archbishops who have invaded. Primarily, the Sin Archbishop of Lust is becoming a menace whose minions are also the ones responsible for Mimi’s situation. In such a scenario, all the big shots, along with Subaru, come together and plan what their next move must be.

Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 4 Review Old Enemies Resurface

Subaru knows that he will have to get his hands on Emilia, but the city’s situation is also a problem. He cannot just ignore everything around him, and run off to find his beloved. Hence, he decides to sort the issue with the Sin Archbishop of Lust first and then rescue Emilia. It is also a nuisance that Lust is so brazenly asking for the remains of the witch.

Subaru gets to know from Kiritaka that it is true that the Witch’s remains are somewhere in the city, but it would be impossible to hand them over to anyone. The remains are actually powering the city, and if somebody tries to extract them, the city will be destroyed anyway. Thus, Subaru and others will have to engage in a fight with the archbishops and find a way to stop them without agreeing to their demands.

Verdict

Today’s episode was pretty good, but at the same time, it was a bit slow in the beginning. The action and everything started to happen in the latter half. Subaru also finally meets the one enemy that he wanted to defeat for a very long time. It is none other than the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony who erased Rem’s memory.
