Revenant Recap
San-young puts in a lot of effort to support her mother Gyeong-mun. One day, San-young and her mother become prey to a phishing scam. Though the con artist gets caught, they still lose their money. Later that night, Gyeong-mun learns about her spouse Gang-mu’s death.
When they pay their respect, San-young’s grandmother gives an antique accessory and claims that it was her father’s wish to give it to her. When she touches the hair accessory, San-young gets cursed and an evil spirit latches itself onto her. A folklore professor Hae-sang gets in touch with San-young as he got a will from her father, Gang-mu, to take care of her.
San-young initially doesn’t believe in the evil spirit story that Hae-sang tells but eventually, when she starts killing people unconsciously, she understands and witnesses the evil spirit’s shadow. Both Hae-sang and San-young start their search for the evil spirit’s origin so they can seal it and return it back to the afterlife.

Along with them, two detectives Munchun and Hongsae also search for the same case of Lee Mokdan because they believe that all the suicide victims with burnt wrist marks have a connection to the child’s death. As they keep getting more information, trouble nears them. Sadly, Munchun gets killed as he finds the name way before the other three.
After a few more days, San-young visits Hae-sang’s grandmother on a sacred day to trick and get the name of the evil spirit. Their plan works out and the trio learn that the spirit’s name is Lee Hyangi. Meanwhile, Hae-sang finds all five objects and that’s when they realise, they’re not supposed to find them. Because once the objects are redeemed, the evil spirit gets full control over one’s body. Lee Hyangi completely possesses San-young and traps her soul in a mirror.

Speaking of Lee Hyangi, she was chosen by the shaman Choi Manwol as a host. As Hae-sang’s grandparents wanted to become rich and make their Junghyeon capital the top company in South Korea, they sacrificed Lee Hyangi and invoke a juvenile ghost. Surprisingly, Lee Hyangi turns into the most violent and wicked juvenile ghost and thirsts for a new life.

Towards the end, when Hae-sang learns about Lee Hyangi trapping San-young, he understands that if he seals all the objects, San-young will permanently be trapped. Hae-sang gets a piece of information from Hongsae regarding Hae-sang’s grandmother doing something to herself a few seconds before dying. The duo watches a clip of Hae-sang’s grandmother on the ground stabbing her finger as a hint, Hae-sang remembers something. Apparently, the shaman Choi Manwol cut the finger of Lee Hyangi for a purpose.
It is understood that if they find the index finger and destroy it, the evil spirit will depart. Hongsae and Hae-sang rummage in the Yeom Estate but do not find it. San-young tricks Hae-sang and Hongsae using Gyeongmun’s phone. A clever Hae-sang believes that Hongsae should check upon Gyeongmun while he remains at the estate to check if San-young comes in.
As expected the possessed San-young visits the estate and takes the box containing her finger. Hae-sang locks the door and interacts with the evil spirit. They have a severe fight where the evil spirit stabs Hae-sang and tries to run away. But just then, she sees San-young in the mirror.

San-young starts battling the demon inside the mirror and wins over it. She manipulates her body and makes the evil spirit burn its finger. The spirit of Lee Hyangi finally rests in peace. San-young returns to her regular life and spends quality time with her mother and Semi. She checks off her bucket list since she knows she’ll go blind any time.
In the end, Hae-sang takes San-young to a festival so she can enjoy the fireworks. As she looks at the glorious sight in front of her and happily smiles, her vision slowly fades, leaving her blind.
Will There be Revenant Season 2?
So far there hasn’t been any confirmed news regarding Revenant season 2 because season 1 had a strong conclusion. Now that the character San-young loses her vision, the chances of her in another season are less. However, if the writers decide to show the battle of San-young as a visually challenged person and a new evil spirit, then Hae-sang and Hongsae characters can also assist and make the second season work out.

Revenant is streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar.
