Reincarnated as a Sword Episode 9 Review and Recap – A Memorable Spar
The previous episode of this anime was not up to the mark, and thus, I was pleasantly surprised when they picked up the pace in this episode. Previously we saw Fran preparing for a special quest that the guild master specifically requested her to take on.

Many things are riding on this quest, not only just for Fran but also for the guild master. As a newcomer like Fran was able to get the prestigious position of a rank D adventurer, many suspected her abilities. Even going as far as saying that she became successful because she charmed the guild master.
Surprisingly not just Fran but even Amanda tags along with her in this mission. And later, we understand that this mission is almost like an examination to assess the power of the promoted adventurers.
Here, we meet some new characters, but the one that is worth remembering is definitely Krad, a D rank adventurer and leader of an E ranked Guild. From the very beginning, he showcases hostility towards our protagonist because he is a firm believer in the rumours about Fran.
He also comes off as someone who can easily be provoked and has too much faith in his own abilities. So much so that he even manages to rile Amanda, an A-ranked adventurer, from time to time. And Amanda, being the strongest in the mission, swiftly shows him his rightful place.
This episode perhaps delivered one of the best action sequences till now. The battle between Krad and Fran was a delight to see. From that fight, we can easily say that Fran far exceeds the D rank and can easily defeat her peers without the help of Teacher.

But the highlight of this episode was when Amanda challenges Fran to a friendly match. The match was anything but friendly, and it seriously became one of the best fights of the anime. Not only do we get a good look at Fran’s capabilities, but we also witness why Amanda has been called a monster by many.
Verdict
This episode was good to the point of keeping me hooked till the end. The incidents that took place in this episode set the background for what will happen in the next week. It is a nice idea to show us just how strong Amanda is before a big battle in the dungeon. Now we know that if there comes a threat that is too much for Fran and Teacher to handle, they can always count on Amanda to save the day. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed today’s episode and will eagerly wait for the next one. You can watch the series on HIDIVE.
