Reincarnated as a Sword Episode 5 Review – Stronger Opponents
Reincarnated as a Sword is keeping a steady pace in exploring the plot of its universe while faithfully following the isekai tropes.
The episode opens with Fran going full force towards the dungeon without waiting for anyone. She is almost alone in her pursuit of goblins, along with her beloved sword Teacher. We can see that the thirst for more power is strong within her and the only thing she wants to do is fight more creatures so that she can achieve her dreams.
Teacher is a very great mentor who continuously reminds Fran to take care of herself and not overdo anything. He assists her fully, respects her wishes, and even protects her from every threat. With each passing episode, we witness the unbreakable bond of these two that only gets stronger and stronger even though they only met a few days back.

This episode was full of intense battle scenes with some cool moves and potent magic. Fran easily knocks out multiple goblins alone, and Teacher even manages to destroy the goblin’s lair with his destructive powers.

But the moment you feel that everything is going to be great, and Fran will be victorious in raiding through an entire dungeon, you realise that the goblin king or queen was not actually the dungeon master. Believing she is enough, Fran marches on and reaches her destination, only to find her original enemy is scarier than she thought.
This episode showcased that even our protagonist, who should be overpowering and invincible, can also have losses to her name. But in the face of a strong opponent, Fran doesn’t falter and tries her best to do whatever she can in an adverse situation.
The 5th episode mostly focused on the fight between Fran and the goblins, but it also delivered a surprising last boss that is above Fran’s current level. It is only in the next episode that we will be able to see how things will fair between them.

Plot-wise, the anime did not develop much here, and it is staying in the generic lane of an isekai anime, but nonetheless, it is entertaining. The background score of this anime is good, especially the ones used for battles.
The story so far is quite simple and does not have very many things to offer. But the bond between the hero and her sword is fun to watch.
Verdict
This episode did not reveal much about the anime storyline or the fantastical setting. The power-up system can be confusing for the viewers as the sword is achieving new abilities quite often without any proper explanation. So far, the pace has not been an issue, and hopefully, they will continue to keep it that way. All in all, this anime is definitely a decent watch. You can watch the series on HIDIVE.
