Red Swan Episode 2 Recap
A crime scene welcomes us before the opening sequence and realise that someone has died in Wan-soo’s home. The investigating officers ask the staff whether or not Wan-soo and Do-yoon were lovers and although the staff scoff at them, it’s clear that something is amiss.
Back to the party, after the shock of meeting Do-yoon, Wan-soo thinks bac kto the first time she met her future in-laws and husband, the day her mother got fired from her job as a caddie. She made her way to the top and eventually had to give everything away thanks to her mother’s greed.

In the the present, Wan-soo has a successful party, while Yong-guk has an affair with Jang Tae-ra and is eventually caught by Wan-soo, who expresses disgust that they got caught, signifying that she had known about the two of them all along. However, she plays nice with Yong-guk in front of everyone anyway, leaving Tae-ra and Do-yoon surprised. The next day, she meets Mi-ran, who ends up mentioning that she had orchestrated everything so that Wan-soo divorced Yong-guk. However, the former mentions that she has no intentions of doing so and warns her to stay away from her charity if she doesn’t want things to get messy for her.
That night, Wan-soo gets drunk and Do-yoon helps her up. On her way in, she mentions that she remembers him from that day and asks him whether he wants to spend the night with her. Although he doesn’t answer, he follows her in when she almost falls over and he asks her whether he is unhappy or lonely, eventually wishing her goodnight. However, a drunk Yong-guk appears outside, and she stops him from walking out and causing a scene. Kyung-ju eventually gets him to leave and as it starts to rain, the two of them share a meaningful look.

Red Swan Ending
The next day, with her husband and mother-in-law gone, Wan-soo returns home and Do-yoon gets the rundown of King’s Palace as well. While on his way to meet Wan-soo, however, he breaks Ju-hyuk’s photo frame of the two of them that Kyung-ju gave him and finds an SD card inside which contains videos of Yong-guk’s father’s death, leaving him to wonder whether his friend got murdered because he was looking into the Chairman’s mysterious death.
Red Swan Episode 2 Review

This series, unless it takes a 180 turn, is going to be one goofy watch. The only thing that, in my mind, can save it is the crackling chemistry between Rain and Kim Ha-neul as the two of them looking longingly and knowingly into each other’s eyes seems to be the highlight. But I am extremely curious about the action side of the story because it seems like the twists are extremely cliched and doesn’t make you wonder what is about to happen. Most of the mystery seems to have already been explored. Plus, the cliched gambling addict mother and cartoonishly evil mother-in-law is a trope that needs to stop existing in Korean dramas – it’s getting very old at this point.
All in all, it is Rain who saves this show at this point – regardless of plot armour, his acting, chemistry and action sequences are great and make the show worth watching.
