Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire Ending Explained
Who Was the Man at the End of the Movie? Is Atticus Noble Alive?
Although Noble appears dead after his fight with Kora, his body is ultimately lifted off by a spacecraft, and taken to a secret lair of sorts where a group of hooded figures operate on him, but instead of right away bringing him back to life, they attach his body to several wires. He’s then suspended in the air, but before that, a neural link is established by clicking yet another cable at the back of his head, which looks far from what a human brain would look like.

Atticus Noble was also seen subjecting himself to a mysterious kind of process as he has all these scars on his body, left behind as a result of him plugging himself to some sort of machine. Anyhow, on being plugged to the cables, it seems as if Noble’s consciousness is transported elsewhere, a place that appears like an astral plane or some other dimension, where he zooms in fully healed and clothed unlike his original condition at the lab. It’s possible that this was merely a means for these people to communicate with each other through the establishment of some kind of neural connection, instead of actually being in the company of each other physically.
(Details of Kora’s Past)
At this else-world location, Noble reports to Balisarius about having found Arthelais aka Kora. The “master” in question was indeed Kora’s own adoptive father who’d initially annihilated her entire world and family. Showing her mercy for some reason, he went on to take her under his wing and teach her everything he knew about war till she too joined his lust for destruction as part of the Motherworld’s forces.

Becoming the daughter of a decorated commander, Kora, who was then known as Arthelais, was in close vicinity with the King and the royal family. It became her duty to serve and protect the Motherland. Eventually she earned the royal family’s trust to become Princess Issa’s bodyguard. The princess was believed to possess divine powers that would lay these wars to rest and bring peace some day. While Kora came to believe in her ability to save everyone, the same ideas of the royal family being above everyone else brought the world to ruin, till a treacherous assassin slew the royal bloodline forever.
It hasn’t been precisely divulged as to why Kora then fled the royal cause and left her adoptive father behind. When connecting these dots, it can be presumed that it was probably Kora who betrayed the royal family, and has been on the run ever since. Or it could even go the other way. The old King’s portrayal and the way he addressed his daughter’s powers presented the last royals in power as relatively more benign than their predecessors.

It’s possible that Balisarius, who found meaning to his life only through violence, assassinated them to come to power, because ultimately, the one man who particularly gained from the end of the royal reign was Balisarius himself as he once again took matter into his hands to silence the revolution’s cry for once and for all.
By the end of the movie too, he pushed Noble to carry out his command to crush the insurgency entirely and bring back his daughter, who will then be crucified in front of the senate. Even though this last location isn’t presented as an actual physical location, Balisarius still seems to have control over its laws of physics, as he’s able to push Noble out of it by severing the neural link between them both.
And when he does, Noble comes out on the other side naked, as he was brought in to be operated on. The hooded figures then hit him with an unimaginable surge of electricity to bring him back to life, and well, he’s resurrected after all, setting up the scene for yet another battle between him and Kora in Rebel Moon Part 2 , set to release in April 2024.
What are Jimmies? What Does the End Signify About Them?

When Admiral Atticus Noble’s army takes over the fertile land of the village Veldt, the squad members discover what could possibly be one of the last standing Jimmies left after the end of the royal bloodline. Jimmies are enduring robots that fought for the royal cause (or as Snyder labels them as, “quest knights”), but as soon as the King was assassinated, they all laid their weapons down and gave up fighting back entirely, probably something that has to do with their programming.
One of the rowdy soldiers taunts Jimmy just to see if it would fight back, when it doesn’t, the robot is left in the dirt. It later heads down to clean himself up when the young water girl, Sam, comes down to help.
She and Jimmy forge an unlikely friendship then and the latter goes on to tell her about the slain king and his daughter, called the “Chalice” or “Redeemer”. Additionally, it also makes the remark that Sam reminded it of the young princess. This particular scene then again links to the fight scene wherein Kora jumps into action to save Sam from being violated by the Imperium soldiers. Jimmy too, joins in and despite receiving the command to shoot Kora, it chooses to protect Sam instead by shooting at the soldier himself.

It’s possible that the initial scene was probably tied in to bring us down to this moment of resistance from Jimmy’s side. Nevertheless, Sam also appears to be have this special, yet unspoken of, aura too. Could she be Princess Issa? Or is she simply someone who, as Jimmy mentioned, reminded it of her?
Regardless of what the case may be, Sam makes a flower crown for Jimmy and their conversation inspires a renewed fighting spirit in the machine. Towards the end, he’s seen gazing at Kora and the rest of the rebels arriving back in Veldt, with a huge head of antlers, marking a new beginning for him of sorts. It hints at him possibly joining the rest of the rebels in the sequel, and fighting for a new cause – the survival of the people in Veldt.
Why Did Kai Betray the Others? Is He Dead?

Meeting up with Kora and Gunnar at the pub and then helping them walk out safely, Kai was a mercenary, who assisted Kora in finding potential soldiers to fight against the Imperium. They fly across planets together to recruit many such warriors, and by the end of their journey he’s willing to change his ways too and join the honourable fight alongside Kora and the rest. Before flying off to Veldt, Kai mentions that he needs to make one last pitstop in Gondival to drop some things off as part of an assignment.
Ultimately, it all turns out to be an ambush as Kai ends up betraying them. He’d been working with Noble to cash in on capturing all these warriors who posed a threat to the Imperium. However, Gunnar manages to free the rest of the warriors and the following big battle between them and Noble’s side gets Kai killed. On being confronted by Kora, Kai merely mentions that all these wars had taught him not to be on the wrong side of history. All that annihilation had made a non-believer out of him, so he may as well make some coin through these people.
