It’s finally time for Ranma to attend school, accompanied by his newly arranged fiancée, Akane. The two don’t get along at all, but there’s little they can do about it since their parents have already decided they’re going to be married. As a result, constant squabbling and petty arguments between them become the norm. However, a bigger challenge awaited them once they arrived at school.

For Akane, school is more like a battlefield. Being both attractive and popular, she’s constantly pursued by boys. But the strange part is that they all try to defeat her in combat to win a date with her. Leading the charge is Tatewaki Senpai, the kendo club’s star, who created a rule that no one can ask Akane out unless they beat her in a fight.

Even Tatewaki himself hasn’t been able to defeat her yet, which might be why Akane is so resistant to the idea of dating. However, one person stands apart from the rest—Dr. Tofu is a kind-hearted chiropractor who has always looked after Akane. It’s clear that she has feelings for him, adding another layer of complexity to her character.

The most entertaining moment in the episode comes when Ranma, due to his curse, accidentally transforms into a girl at school, causing complete chaos. Watching him navigate the chaos and evade Tatewaki Senpai, who, after learning of Ranma’s engagement to Akane, is determined to track him down, is a sight to behold. And if that wasn’t enough, Ranma even ends up with an unexpected admirer, making the episode all the more unpredictable.

Ranma ½ 2024 Episode 3 Review

Today, we had another really fun and entertaining episode. It begins with Tatewaki Senpai being completely head over heels in love with Ranma without understanding that he is the girl he has fallen for. Not only that, but Tatewaki Senpai also buys numerous pictures of Ranma’s girl form and Akane from Nabiki at a hefty price. When asked if he wants to two-time the girls, he, in a very unashamed way, agrees that he likes both of them for having different qualities.

This sort of courtship definitely does not work, as he is swiftly beaten by Ranma when Tatewaki Senpai tries to challenge him at a duel again. But in these funny and odd scenarios, one thing is happening. Both Ranma and Akane are getting closer, albeit very slowly.

They even visit Doctor Tofu, when Akane beats Ranma for joking with her a bit too much. Here, she showcases her adoration for the doctor, who is too dense to understand her feelings. However, the doctor kind of takes the role of Cupid and tries to make Ranma see the inner beauty of Akane. This works, and Ranma sees that Akane is indeed a good-natured and helpful girl.

Towards the end, we witness the heartbreak of Akane because it is revealed that Doctor Tofu is in love with someone else. Akane knows this and just wishes to be in a one-sided love without disturbing anyone. Seeing this, Ranma not very sweetly tries to cheer her up, which definitely backfires between them. However, one thing is clear, and that is they are the perfect fit, and it will not be long before they fall for each other.

Verdict

Today’s episode was very engaging and hilarious. This is a lighthearted show that you can enjoy without thinking too much about the plot. The premise is interesting, and the characters are likeable, making the show enjoyable to watch every time.
