Queenmaker (퀸메이커) is all set to present us with an entertaining political show, much like the dramatic conflict Kim Hee-ae and Moon So-ri’s characters are caught up in. Developed by Netflix, the upcoming April South Korean series has been directed by Oh Jin-seok and written by Moon Ji-young. With 12 episodes in the long run, the TV series also stars Ryu Soo-young in the lead alongside the previously mentioned actors.

The K-drama division of Netflix has released the trailer of the new K-drama title today (March 30, 2023). As the 39th Seoul Mayoral By-election approaches, Hee-ae’s Hwang Do-hee, a powerful fixer in politics, switches her allegiance to back up So-ri’s Oh Seung-sook’s candidature for the same in order to take down her former corrupt employer. However, the fight for justice is always challenging in such cases, and the dynamic duo is also met with adversaries who know how to make the people’s words bend as per their will.

Soo-young’s Baek Jae-min emerges as another Seoul mayoral candidate, who teams up with Jin Kyung’s Seo Min-jeong, aka “servant of the common people”. Both are pros in this political game as “A-class clowns” who can appeal to the public using cameras and lights. And ultimately, use the same resources to disparage Do-hee and Seung-sook’s team. Everyone is out to destroy Seung-sook’s image; she is also a human rights lawyer and is well-known as the “rhino of justice”.

Meanwhile, Seo Yi-sook’s Son Young-sim, Eunsung Group’s Chairman, can shake things up with financial aid and plans to eliminate Do-hee. As the whole electoral scene starts heating up with the other team trying to get the better of them by fabricating lies, Do-hee and Seung-sook realise that they’re not up against a human being, but rather someone so vicious and vile that they can pull any plug to stand tall as winners in this battle of politics and betrayal.
