Hong Hae-in is a chaebol heiress, known as the ‘queen’ of Queens Group Department Stores while Baek Hyun-woo, her husband, is the legal director of the conglomerate and known as the ‘supermarket prince’. Hong Hae-in is described as a cold and calculated woman while Baek Hyun-woo is warm-hearted and emotional.

A marriage between an influential woman and an entry-level employee is dubbed the ‘wedding of the century’ and is nothing but a facade. Belonging to two different worlds, the couple could not overcome their differences but a big crisis brings these two together. Soon, they realise that maybe being different from one another is not so bad after all.

In the earlier episodes, the viewers are shown how Hyun-woo and Hae-in are far apart from each other but Hae-in’s short expiration date brings them closer in a way they did not expect. Hyun-woo begins looking out for her in many ways but refuses to admit he still loves her like buying her shoes so that she is comfortable or cycling around the Yeongdu-ri to find her.

At the same time, Hae-in begins noticing him as well. From not being able to take her eyes off of him to help his family out during a crisis – she becomes smitten by him once again! She even boasts about him to Eun-sung on many occasions. However, they refuse to believe that they love each other after all this time. Their silent gestures speak volumes!

Hae-in’s Jealous Moments

Throughout the show, it is obvious that Hae-in thinks highly of Hyun-woo – whether it is regarding his physical appearance or intellectual capabilities. Even when they were dating, Hae-in would tell him to not be drunk around others as it was his ‘special move’. In the present time, situations like girls staring at him or his family talking about his first love would get her riled up.

One particular moment that stood out was in episode 14 when Hyun-woo decided to rile up Hae-in by bringing attention to him with certain gestures. She gave him a death stare and demanded to roll down his sleeves. The scene brought viewers so much laughter and even the appearance of Eun-sung did not dim the atmosphere.

Even after their divorce, Hyun-woo and Hae-in fiercely protect each other through situations. Hyun-woo went out of his way to rescue Hae-in and her family after they were tricked by Eun-sung, Grace Goh, Da-hye and Sol-hee. He took them to his house and made sure they were protected from Eun-sung as well as reporters.

At the same time, Hae-in exposed Eun-sung and her secret about her illness to save Hyun-woo. After getting to know that Hyun-woo might lose his job and license due to Eun-sung’s devious plan, she made sure that she would be the one to save him. These gestures were just one of many times the viewers noticed how much the main leads love each other.

Hyun-woo’s Desperation to Save Hae-in

In the last few episodes, there were a lot of heartbreaking moments – one of them being Hyun-woo trying to convince Hae-in to go through with the surgery even though she may lose all her memories. The church scene where they lay their raw emotions out to each other still makes us tear up.

Hyun-woo’s constant efforts of taking care of her did arrive late but he made sure to help her alleviate the pain in every way possible. From checking with the doctors constantly to threatening a specialist for giving her false hopes – Hyun-woo is one smitten kitten and there is no denying it.

After they decided to take back their divorce, they spent a lot of time together. From going on a date to spending time as a new couple at Hyun-woo’s house – the two of them made us feel lonely and single with their romance.

The funny moments when Hae-in exposed three secrets to Hyun-woo (the MP3 player, the bus guy and Yeong-suk) had us rolling on the floor. It also showed how they were meant to be from the start. Their one moment at the school entrance entangled them forever and even a divorce could not stop them from falling in love.

Speaking of meant to be, the story also revealed a few past connections that left us shocked. While it is a trope, the way Hyun-woo and Hae-in had a few interactions in the past shows that they were destined for each other. From Hyun-woo saving Hae-in from drowning to putting a band-aid on her during their school days – it exposed how they were not even aware of each other’s presence but ended up falling in love, many years later.

After the surgery, Hae-in ended up losing all her memories. While Eun-sung tried to feed her many lies about Hyun-woo, her heart knew she belonged with Hyun-woo. After spending time with Eun-sung, she instinctively felt uncomfortable around him. However, one look at Hyun-woo and she was a puddle of goo.

She made up ways to meet up with Hyun-woo and she would mistreat him but she felt as though there was more to their relationship than Eun-sung told her. After she realised the truth through her diary, the first thing she wanted to do was to go to him. Even though she still could not remember everything, her body and mind knew to trust him, which made her realise how much she loved him.
