Pseudo Harem Episode 2 Review: The second episode of Pseudo Harem or Giji Harem is here, and we are clearly getting more romance now than ever before. Let us see how the second episode turned out.

Pseudo Harem Episode 1 Recap

In this heartwarming episode, we follow Rin, a spirited first-year student with a passion for acting. Her goal? To join the theatre club at her school. But fate takes an unexpected turn when she encounters Eiji, a second-year student who masquerades as the club’s president. Eiji, with a mischievous glint in his eye, claims the club has no members and invites Rin to start anew with him.

However, Eiji’s claim is nothing more than a playful ruse—a nod to the classic anime trope where grand adventures begin. What unfolds is a delightful rom-com between Rin and Eiji. Rin, a versatile actress, effortlessly slips into various roles, from the mischievous devil girl to the shy tsundere and the elegant beauty. Eiji, blissfully unaware, revels in the pseudo-harem experience Rin unwittingly provides.

Yet beneath the theatrics lies genuine affection. Rin’s feelings for Eiji are palpable, but he remains adorably clueless. The episode weaves multiple plots, akin to a 4-koma manga panel, keeping viewers engaged. The animation, while not groundbreaking, captures Rin’s myriad expressions beautifully.

Pseudo Harem Episode 2 Review And Recap

Pseudo Harem Episode 2 Review Getting Closer To The Real Girl

Today’s episode was again sweeter than ever. We are seeing more romantic moments between the leads and this time the lines between reality and make-believe are blurring. The episode starts with the revelation that Rin has a very young sister, on whom Rin showers all her love and appreciation. Eiji, on learning that, is jealous of that fact and wishes he too had someone to dote on. Well, thankfully, Rin can take care of his wishes by acting like the cute sister and calling Eiji oni-chan, a feat which melts our protagonist.

But it does not stop there. In the next segment, we see Rin crying for the very first time. Eiji also witnesses this and is flabbergasted to see her shed tears like this. He reveals, that he almost hugged her in that instant. Here, we learn how our hero cannot handle a girl crying in front of him and he gets tensed when Rin teases him about it. To make her laugh, Eiji even starts to make weird faces solidifying his sweet and caring nature.

Another segment that I love is when Eiji confesses his feelings to Rin. But wait, he is not serious at all, rather it is a mock confession that he tries out for Tsundere-chan. Eiji wants to be popular, so it is only natural that he thinks of ways to confess in a suitable manner. But unbeknownst to him, Rin has actually started to like him. She might not show this but it is very apparent from the way she acts around him and treats him. Thus, this sort of practice of confessing further makes her fall for the boy who just does not understand Rin’s heart.

This anime does not have much to show when it comes to animation or characters, but it still manages to make you smile. The voice actors do a phenomenal job at making the scene more life-like considering the simple nature of the character designs.

Verdict

I loved this episode as well and was thoroughly entertained by what was happening on the screen. Rin and Eiji are really made for each other but sadly they do not admit that. Rin definitely likes Eiji and it is also why she took care of him when he was sick. Eiji is also very interested in her, he just does not recognise his feelings.
