The episode begins by showcasing the world of Justice, Kang David. He is a well-respected and highly acclaimed judge in his field who reached the top with his own merit, and now he helps people under him without a second thought. Here, he goes on to handle a very sensitive case where someone with sexual assault and tax evasion charges goes on trial. At the trial, the accused’s lawyer asks for more time to reach an agreement with the victims. However, David completely rips the accused apart with hard facts and slaps the accused with huge charges.

Needless to say, his cutthroat approach makes him very famous among the common people, and he also becomes viral on social media. However, he does not do everything just because he is good at heart; there is an underlying reason behind it. He wants to get nominated as a candidate for the Supreme Court of Justice. However, even though he does good for the people, his bosses are not happy because of internal corruption. He understands this very well and tries to appease them at the same time.

David is very self-aware, and in his theory, only the people who have worked as hard as he can look down on him, and not those with money. Thus, it is his mission to reach extreme heights so that no one looks down on him for coming from nothing. Interestingly enough, David meets Park Gi-ppeum, a public interest attorney, with whom he first acts with fake goodwill but soon showcases his true colours. Their interaction results in a hilarious situation, and they clearly start off on the wrong foot.

Later, we get to know that David actually got nominated for the position he wanted, meaning everything goes exactly as planned for him. We also get to see just how hard his mother worked for him to study and become successful. She died while he was still in high school. But, his good luck takes a complete 360° when he finds a huge amount of cash in his car. It will become clear to him that his own friend had betrayed him in the name of taking autographs from him and handing him the cash while he was extremely drunk.

Not to mention this was a huge ploy to trap him, and now that he has fallen for it, there is no saving him. David’s boss insults him tremendously and just tells him to quit without making a noise. Nevertheless, he is not helpless as he gets another job offer from a law firm where he will now work his way up again as a public interest lawyer. Coming here, David detests the team of novice lawyers, as this was not something he expected, and he becomes very upset with his current situation. Not to mention, he also meets Gi-ppeum here, and the rest becomes history.

I really like the first episode, and I believe it is going to be an extremely funny yet occasionally serious series. The hero has a refreshingly shrewd and witty personality, which goes well with his aura of a judge. I have high hopes for the future of this series.
