Ponniyin Selvan 2 aka PS-2 Release Date Out: The Cholas are Back for a Monumental Sequel

The makers of Ponniyin Selvan 2 (better known as PS-2) have announced the release date for the upcoming sequel that will witness the true glory of the Chola kingdom in its magnificent form. Notably, the first part of the film franchise was a grand commercial success and grossed more than 500 crores at the worldwide box office.

For the unversed, Ponniyin Selvan I was a grand-scale film Tamil Language film released worldwide, directed by the renowned Mani Ratnam and featuring a plethora of star cast. The film was adapted from the works of Kalki Krishnamurthy, which tells the epic tale of the Chola prince, who would go on to become the celebrated emperor Rajaraja I. Moreover, the film is the first of two cinematic parts based on the novel and promises to be a grand historical action adventure with a compelling plot and stunning visuals.

The film was produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, with music composed by A. R. Rahman. All of whom are returning for the second instalment. The cinematography was curated by Ravi Varman, with editing by A Sreekar Prasad and production design by Thota Tharani. Furthermore, the entire team of technicians and craftsmen made sure to turn the feature into a visual spectacle.

The complete cast of the film included Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, R. Parthiban and Lal. 

Overall, from the release date video, Ponniyin Selvan 2 looks to be a film that grand-scale cinema fans won’t want to miss. With its epic historical setting, action-packed plot, and talented cast and crew, it looks set to be a memorable and entertaining experience for all.

Furthermore, the film is helmed by the maestro Mani Ratman, who is one of the most renowned filmmakers and is known for his meticulous and cinematically brilliant filmography. The upcoming movie is also being cited as one of his most ambitious movies to date. Notably, his previous works include acclaimed movies like  Roja, Guru and Bombay.
