It is revealed that only one pillar remains before the Great Cataclysm begins. The White-Clad believe that humanity is inherently drawn to chaos and death, and therefore see it as their duty to lead the world toward its inevitable destruction. Soon after, the Eighth Pillar finally emerges, marking the start of the devastation threatening the entire planet. In response, the Fire Force begins preparing not only to confront the powerful enemy tied to the pillar, but also to evacuate as many civilians as possible to safer areas.

Company 8 readies itself for what could be its final stand, determined to stop the Great Cataclysm at any cost. However, once the pillar appears, spontaneous human combustion spreads rapidly among civilians, leaving only a handful able to escape. Captain Honda attempts to take down the massive threat, but his attack proves ineffective. From the pillar emerges Raffles I, whose overwhelming power dramatically alters the sky itself, until Shinra arrives to intervene.

Shinra isn’t alone for long, as the rest of Company 8 joins forces with other Fire Force units to devise a strategy against their shared enemy. As the battle unfolds, Shinra struggles to fight Raffles I due to Faerie interfering with his gravity, making it nearly impossible for him to stay airborne. Just when things seem dire, an unexpected ally steps in to support him.

In this episode, Shinra has already vanished, making everyone panic at the sudden disappearance. We then see the origin story of Shinra and how he got the name of a parent killer despite being a victim himself. It shows how he was forced to live with the title devil even though he did nothing wrong. When this devilish image, who killed Raffles, was projected everywhere, Shinra became subjected to widespread criticism, something the White Clad wanted. Later, we also find that it is not just Shinra but even Sho and Sister who vanished as well. Following this information, we get to know that they have disappeared because of Adola, and the final phase of the great cataclysm has actually begun.

We also see that the number of infernals has dramatically increased.  But just when the episode was getting serious, we got a comedy break where we see the school days of Shinra. This was an interesting break, but we soon got into the heavier matter again. Company 8 goes to inspect Amaterasu because they believe that it will be the way that will finally lead them to the place where Shinra has gone.

Following this, we see a large-scale battle between Company 8 and a bunch of infernals. The fight becomes very intense here, and along with that, even the animation improves. Everyone comes up with their best moves, and surprisingly, an unexpected character becomes the MVP of this episode.

Verdict

I like today’s episode as it gave screen time to supporting characters who definitely needed more attention. I also loved how Company 8 is finally taking things into their hands and refusing to follow orders for Shinra. The next episode might showcase more of Shinra and Sister.
