Pirate Gold of Adak Island Season 2: Will the Netflix Docuseries Return to Find Missing Treasure?

Pirate Gold of Adak Island is a reality docuseries released on Netflix on 29 June. It is an eight-part docuseries with a runtime of about 25-34 minutes respectively and follows the expedition team which is called to hunt down the treasure hidden in Adak Island, Alaska. The series is created by Mak Pictures with executive producers, Mark Kadin and Will Ehbrecht.

The plot of the series explores the events of over the past one hundred years where caches of gold coins from the nineteenth century have been found buried on the remote and eerie island of Adak. The entire pirate treasure, most of which has not been found, has an estimated value of $365 Million. At present time, Mayor Tom Spitler is assembling a team of experienced treasure hunters to search for the booty.

Will There Be Pirate Gold of Adak Island Season 2?

Yes, we can absolutely expect the docuseries to come back with another season. At the end of the series, the expedition team is finally able to find something tangible to prove the legend of the hidden treasure. After various trial and error methods, the expedition team gets the right clues that lead them on the correct path.

By following the markings on the rock, presumably by the Pirate Gregory Dwargstaf, the team reaches the Red Bluff Hills, where they find another marking pointing to the top of the hill. But the army had already shifted the top part to another location while making the base and settlement. With the help of old records, they are able to locate the correct location of disposal.

The site of disposal was quite near the restricted area where hundreds of bombs were kept. Around the safe area, they were able to dig out 2 gold coins dating from the 1880s and thus making them part of the hidden treasure. It cheered up the spirits and hopes of the team that they can find all of the treasure if they followed more clues carefully.

Still from Pirate Gold of Adak Island

However, no official confirmation has been released by Netflix or the production house regarding the release of Season 2. But the docuseries ended on the note that they will be coming back to dig out the rest of the treasure. So it might be a bit soon to tell anything but if it goes according to the plan then we should expect Pirate Gold of Adak Island Season 2 by next year.

Pirate Gold of Adak Island is streaming on Netflix.

  1. I was a Seabee on Adak when Red Bluff was being removed and have information on when a lot of the rock was used. I feel that it’s possible that the gold may have for one purpose!

  2. Thank you Teokotai, thank you. we have been looking for someone else for the team actually! Please contact us with your expertise or skills. Ideally you will have martial arts skills too as we have realised this is a skill gap in the team, in case we encounter vicious wild animals during the search. We will be leaving for Alaska in 4 months. Thanks, Tom Spitler.

    • Hi Tom. Donald here. I posted before. Dig is ILLEGAL. I didn’t authorise. No sweat. We can sort this. I know a guy. Good Kung Fu, so great. He rides a bear like a horse. Great body, so great. He like to ride in the snow. No shirt.

He’s got some time to spare. He’s busy, but it can work. He’s close. Okay.

Gimme a call. We’ll meet in NYC and resolve the ILLEGAL digging. Okay. We’ll get my guy in next season. So good, real smart man. Okay.

By the way, how’s your Russian?

  3. Hey Tom I’m from Australia and loved your show. I would love to be apart of the team. Have been detecting with a ctx3030 for the past 9 years. Doing gold ring recoveries and other precious metal recoveries. Fit and able bodied and have a cracker sense of humor

  4. I too am fascinated by the adventure of finding pirates gold. My friend and I would be so excited to join a few episodes or more. It would be a once and lifetime experience.

  5. I was young and growing up in western NY out side of a VA center when I was told a story about this by a guy we will call little John. At the time I was interested in it just sounded like a goonies move. He and about 20 men plus equipment were sent there for the reason to take that top of the mountain off for one reason. I really didn’t think much of it other than a story and haven’t thought about it since till I just watched this show. But anyways the government found the location of a bulk of the gold and they were sent there to recover it under a cover story. But the main part I remember is they found it and each man got to keep 10 coins the rest was loaded into 55 gallon barrels and shipped out. He is no longer with us he was a great guy so I can’t prove any of it but it’s weird that he told me about it. I don’t remember much lol but stories like that just stick with you. He never told the islands name but I’m sure it has to be the same one I would think. I’m sure if they found other cans in other locations there is more tho

  6. Hi Tom we are an Australian couple who have visited Dutch Harbour after watching Deadly Catch now after watching this show wouldn’t mind visiting Adak such another beautiful piece of the world

  7. Hello Mayor Tom Spitler,
Can I join the team? I have great stamina and I have had great luck in finding cash on the street, even a $100 bill. It seems that I have a innate ability to attract money!
As a former Scout I have lots of camping experience.
Their is a flight from NY to AdaK and I will pay for my expenses.
I have been lucky all my life. You need a lucky charm to find the gold!
Seriously Give me the opportunity mayor Tom.
    Bob

    • I have years of treasure hunting experience and after watching the show I can confidently say I know where the gold is – you guys missed a spot. I have friends who lived on Adak in the 90’s and looked for this stuff as a hobby who found 7 coins together. Hit me up and I’ll catch the next flight and help your team with this.

  8. Hey tom, this comment you made has been causing a little bit of a stir on a reddit post, and we are all wondering if this is someone pretending to be you, as so far as we can tell, you always spell your name “Thom” and not tom.

are you seriously considering adding another person to your team, but specifically want a martial artist? for dangerous animals? on a desolate island known to house seals and birds? its Alaska, and your fabricators had weapons with them.

the show has left many people with a strange “history channel dramatization” taste in their mouth, and if you have the opportunity to add more team members in the name of actually finding treasure, why are you not searching more better experts instead of a black belt (for fighting animals)?

  9. Why not scan for gold on top of what’s left of that hill? Has it ever been thought by the team that they mite have just moved most of it off to one side them remove it all via dump truck? Why not check old photos of what the hill looked like before the top was taken down to as what it looks now. It’s like snowplowing the roads everything moved off to one side then leveled off after wards.

  10. Amazing show! Loved how each member contributed unique skills and knowledge of the Adak area. Hope Netflix continues with season 2! Brian, are you really the real Brian ???? if so, awesome work! Prob my fave out of the group!

  11. Hello Tom,

Firstly I just want to say, that while moving red bluff hill, there’s no possible way they excavated and trucked all that dirt and rock without discovering at least a portion of the gold, assuming that’s where it was all buried.

Then I want to add, have you guys even bothered to look on the other side of red bluff hill to see if there is another marker pointing in another direction?

Next, Wherever red bluff hill was actually dumped, they could have built it up 20 feet…. the first dirt they excavated from red bluff hill would be at the deepest point of the dump site….. meaning your not going to find it with a metal detector.

Now I know everyone is wondering this. You continuously show a photo of the guy that found a can of gold, holding a can of gold, with houses in a specific arrangement in the immediate background. You can see behind him that there is an open trench. You should be able to use this photo and pinpoint the exact location where he discovered his can of gold by simply driving around the housing until you find that spot from the photo.

I’ll come find that spot for you for 5 gold coins + travel costs.

  12. Hi Thom – I am a juggler and have also done extensive mime work. Can you use a juggling mime to help with the search?

  13. Hello. Thom we need to speak I never authorized this search for gold without me. Contact my office before your next trip because I want to make an appearance whenever any coins are dug up (I’ll be in my trailer until then)

    • What. This is not acceptable.

In this day, in this age, we know better. Together, we work alongside one another to better each other.

It’s not good, Governor, that you failed, failed the people, failed the country, failed yourself, by not working together. By not being on the pulse.

Join. Join me, join you, join Tom. Together. One nation.

  14. I’m a very experienced treasure hunter, just bought my first metal detector. I found a old toy car and a quarter from 2006 in my back yard. Please email, I feel I can offer valuable insight.

    • Hi Mike. Phil here.

Me and my friend, Ben Madoon have recently got a metal detector. We found 3 fishing hooks by the canal. When you’re ready to jet off, make sure you give us a call and we will join.

      All the best.

      Ben Madoon and Phil McCraken

    • Hey. Fuck you man. We’ve hit treasure on Oak Island loads of times. We got a 600 year old lead cross from the Knights Templar. So suck it.

      • Ffs Marty.

Get off the internet and put that bourbon away. You’re such an asshole when you’re drunk like this. Stop arguing with people on the internet.

This wouldn’t happen if you only drank Villa Mari wines.

  15. I, u/Sarcasticallyabusive from reddit, lack critical thinking skills. I think the show is fake, but Mayor Tom up above is real, in a thread where you can choose your name.

    • Okay. Fake news. Tom is a close friend of mine. Ok. Good friend. He’s a great man. A good American. You’re fake news. Like NBC and the BBC. Fake news. No time for you. ILLEGAL post.

  16. Seems you found some gold and know its from the top….how about going and scan the top and the other side of the hill and see if you can find another marker…..the same distance from the 2 all ready found….may lead to another area….hurry up with season 2…..this is better than oak island, YOU found gold :))

  17. I’m retired EOD tech, and interested in helping. You wasted too much of your searching time on your “expert” to arrive and remove a unfired Japanese projo. You need a person knowledgeable and capable of removing hazards from the immediate area for collection and disposal. No need to BIP everything and risk destroying clues or treasure. It’s a simple and safe technique that most real bomb techs are capable of performing.

  18. Very disappointed. US soil, my time, my country. Great country. At no point in my office did we authorise this. This is ILLEGAL. Bad news. Not great, not American. I can’t believe it’s not on Twitter, but I don’t know. I’m banned.

Anyway, I see this was filmed post covid. Fist pumps. Very American. So great. I invented that. So much better than the Chinese kicking feet with the China Virus.

Thom, I need you to come out to NYC. We need to chat. Nothing major. Just about the ILLEGAL digging. No permission from the POTUS, me. Okay.

Coke to NYC. You can stay with me in my hotel. I’ll show you a good time. We will grab a few broads by the p*ssy and we’ll go for a good steak. I know a place. If the best. It’s my place. So good.

We will chat, resolve this. If you don’t, I will have to send in the army. I don’t want to. We don’t need to. Troops are coming back from Afghanistan. I arrange that. We have lots of troops at home. We can send some. Get that section 4 cleared. Okay.

Love the show. So great. Let’s chat.

  19. I love the show and really hope for a season two. I lived on Adak Island as a child in the early 70’s. It was the greatest place for a kid! It was great to watch the show and look at some of the places that we used to go. I saw pictures of the old military housing we used to live in. As a side job, my dad did some electrical work for some of the crab boats that would come to Finger bay. They had holds as big as houses filled with live king crab! It was quite a sight to behold. They would give us huge boxes full of crab. The back of my dad’s truck was full of them. Wish we could get that today! We used to see Ptarmigan running around everywhere in the tundra. And the halibut and the Caribou. We used to go fishing for Perch off Rock Island at low tide and sledding down north pack hill in winter (which was most of the time). We had the Bering building for movies, bowling, swimming, arts, and crafts to name a few. Then there was what we called the “Adak national Forest.” At that time it had a total of 21 trees and those were all the trees on the entire island. I wonder if the forest is still there? Great place to be as a kid! My brothers and i still talk about it today. Quite an adventure.
