Phantom Lawyer Episode 5 Recap
A new ghost has come in front of Yi-rang, who tries to make him understand that he’s dead. However, this time, it seems like the ghost is an educated one who refused to believe his situation at first. It also seemed like he was a student of science, as he started to write theories after possessing Yi-rang to prove that ghosts do not exist. However, he had to accept his situation when he saw that he couldn’t touch anything, nor could he stay on the ground. This completely breaks the ghost, who becomes extremely sad that he has died. Following this, we also get to see that this ghost is a famous scientist, and his name is Sang-ho.

Sang-ho also had a wife and even a child. When Yi-rang tells him his name, Sang-ho manages to remember everything from the past, and also the person who killed him. At the same time, this case goes to Na-hyeon, who asks Sang-ho’s wife if she’s the one who killed her husband.
While his wife says she has not, Sang-ho claims that he was killed by his wife. This case again pits Yi-rang and Na-hyeon against one another. This time, Yi-rang is certain to help Sang-ho out, believing him to be a very sincere father. Sang-ho even accepted that he had been a terrible husband to his wife, and he doesn’t want his wife to suffer in jail, even though she murdered him.

This is why Yi-rang takes it upon himself to find Sang-ho’s body. A trial happens against Sang-ho’s wife, and a shocking revelation comes to light. Upon asking whether she had any accomplice, the wife comes clean that no one was there to help her, and she is indeed the one who killed her husband. This kind of open acceptance of crime completely turns the case against her. To get to the bottom of this, Na-hyeon goes to visit Yi-rang and insults him again, believing he is messing with her by claiming he can see ghosts.
On the other hand, Yi-rang goes to a remote location to search for Sang-ho’s body and even manages to find it. However, this gets witnessed by Do-kyung, who later shifted the entire blame of killing Sang-ho to Yi-rang. On the other hand, we also get to know that there was some bad blood going on between Sang-ho and his father-in-law, and it is highly likely that he’s the one who killed Sang-ho. Towards the end, Yi-rang gets possessed by Sang-ho, who then goes to attack his father-in-law, and that is when the police come to catch him. In the end, Yi-rang gets detained for discovering Sang-ho’s body.

Phantom Lawyer Episode 5 Review
I liked today’s episode as it showed a bit of a twist where the ghost actually remembers very well who killed him. I’m also sensing a kind of mystery surrounding the suspect, and I do not believe that the father-in-law is the actual culprit. It will also be interesting to see how Yi-rang will save himself from this problem that he has invited upon himself.
