What happens to Yi-rang?

Yi-rang enters a temporary comatose state, where he was almost on the verge of death. He could see that his body was lying on the hospital bed while his loved ones cried over him. And there was this one moment where he almost went towards a bright light, signalling his imminent demise. However, he gets stopped by Shi-ho, who reminds him of his office promise to the boy, bringing Yi-rang back to life.

Why did Chi-yeong kidnap kids?

Chi-yeong used to be a single father himself who lost his child in a very unfortunate accident. Even though it was not his fault, he took the whole incident to heart. This snapped something within him, and he kidnapped Shi-ho to be the father he could not be the first time. Shi-ho fell sick during this time and later died without being able to reunite with his family ever again.

As Shi-ho liked camping, Chi-yeong also buried him at a campsite. After this, he kidnapped another child to make him take his son’s place.

What happens when Yi-rang goes to meet Chi-yeong?

Yi-rang wanted to meet Chi-yeong to find out where Shi-ho’s body is buried. Thus, to set up a meeting with Chi-yeong, Yi-rang wrote a letter to Chi-yeong while being possessed by Shi-ho. In this meeting, Shi-ho takes over Yi-rang and talks to Chi-yeong to make him realise just what he has done. Shi-ho also asks Chi-yeong to reveal his resting place so that he can finally give his parents some closure and peace.

Did Shi-ho manage to pass on peacefully?

Yes, Shi-ho passes very peacefully after his parents finally make up. Yi-rang also cries while sending Shi-ho off.

Did the episode end here?

The episode continued and focused on a different angle altogether. This time, it was Yi-rang’s own past that got the limelight, as it came back to haunt him in the present. It is revealed that Yi-rang’s father had done something to Shi-ho’s grandfather. This is why Shi-ho’s father insults and cancels the lawsuit after finding out about Yi-rang’s father.

When Yi-rang could not find concrete details about what actually happened in the past, he went to Shi-ho’s father and got to know all the things that his father allegedly did.

What worked and what did not work?

The biggest twist and highlight of this episode is, hands down, the arrival of a new ghost in the end. It was very unexpected and still made very good sense. On the other hand, the emotional segments in the beginning worked well thanks to great acting from everyone. The child actor playing the role of Shi-ho specifically did a very good job of showcasing just the correct amount of emotion.

There wasn’t anything particularly wrong with this episode. However, the romance could have been a bit more apparent, as it currently feels too subtle.
