Shah Rukh Khan has already managed to revive the prospect of going to the movies, and now, he is bringing himself to the forefront by putting Pathaan on Prime Video. This film was originally released in theatres on January 25, 2023, and stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia, Ashutosh Rana, Ekta Kaul and Nikhat Khan alongside other cast members. It is a YRF production and is directed by Siddharth Anand.
This film is about the agent Pathaan who has been tasked with a new mission, and that is to bring down the head of a crime syndicate, Jim. He had already encountered him during a mission to save the President of India from an imminent attack. However, Jim’s plan was never to capture or kill the president, but it was actually to retrieve the two scientists, Dr. Farooqui and Dr. Sahani. We are then shown multiple instances where the SPY universe is truly coming together in the best possible way.
Meanwhile, we start to see some new players entering the field. These former RAW agents are now injured or traumatised, but that doesn’t stop them from being devoted to their country. Nandini Grewal and Pathaan come together to create their organisation bringing former agents to do the right thing for the country. Right now, the right thing is to find out what Jim has been up to and why he has been kidnapping scientists instead of setting his sights on something more important.
There are some serious, hard-hitting endings in the film. Heartbreaking deaths, some insane storylines and some crazy twists make this story the YRF film they needed in order to enjoy the film-going experience again. The ending sticks the landing proving to be both satisfactory and dramatic enough to win the audience’s hearts. Additionally, the stories from all the different films of the SPY universe are finally aligning in this film. The mid-credits scene proves exactly why this crossover was necessary to connect all the storylines.
People who have watched the film in both theatres and home screens have shared how awesome the deleted and extended scenes are. They have expressed awe for the dialogue writing and the ability to show Khan being tortured and beaten up in the best way possible. Additionally, some have also agreed to the reasons why this film essentially became the comeback for getting people to come to the theatre. Now that Prime has offered the film for everyone to watch on the platform, it has become a priority for everyone to see. It’s difficult to pause and marvel at the shots in the theatre, but it is definitely possible to do at home for the Prime screens.

While some have also shared how fantastic Khan and Deepika Padukone look in the film, this film really was a visual treat with some killer action sequences, some insane visual effects and a truckload of drama that truly drives the story and universe forward. Others have also expressed how the film broke records in both the theatrical and OTT releases. It has been less than twelve hours since the film premiered on Amazon Prime Video, and it is already topping the charts on the platform.
