Panayotis Pascot Almost Review: Entertaining Stories of Love and Upbringing

Panayotis Pascot Almost is the comedian’s stand-up comedy debut special that was released on November 3, 2022, on Netflix. The French television darling really does bring some of the best stories of his life as he takes us through the years of his childhood and challenges that couldn’t have been more hilarious.

Directed by Adib Alkhalidey and Panayotis Pascot himself, the quirky and intimate session is definitely not something that you would want to miss. As the comedian talks about his upbringing and the problems that he has faced with love, this surprisingly universal and hilarious debut is really worth the time spent on it.

Netflix’s synopsis of the show reads:

French television darling Panayotis Pascot opens up about his love life and upbringing in this hilarious and touching comedy special.

-Panayotis Pascot Almost Review contains mild spoilers-

The more than an-hour-long show starts off with Panayotis staring off into space while many couples around him become the focus of the camera and the comedian begins his show with the words- “I don’t know how to kiss girls.”

And that began the story of the troubles he faced when trying to kiss a girl as the audience can already feel something good coming up. He soon compares the pressure of not having kissed a girl after 3 dates with that of flunking a driving test, and the fear men face when failing in parallel parking.

Panayotis soon connects his problems when it comes to girls with that what he has faced during his childhood, having witnessed his parents as the only couple around him, he knew where his problems lay. As he continues to bring out more such stories and incidents while moving on to describing the way he messed things up with the girl he liked, there is also a silver lining in all of this.

However, the story comes to a surprising end and not without a stream of laughter as the French comedian really knows how to keep his audience intrigued right until the end. I have to say, I never thought that I would enjoy a stand-up comedy where I would have to spend the whole time reading the subtitles.

Let’s face it, at the end of the day, we need to see the expressions of the comedian while just sitting back and relaxing with the jokes thrown at us. But reading subtitles for a stand-up comedy was a different experience and I have strangely enjoyed it all. Maybe because Pascot did do a good job with his jokes, and also because we can all somehow relate to the stories of his childhood in one way or another.

Summing Up: Panayotis Pascot Almost

Altogether, the comedian’s debut special was truly an enjoyable experience and the end really brings out the highlight of the show. The storytelling was simply capturing while also being relatable in many different ways.

However, it may not be as enjoyable because of the distraction felt by the subtitles as it would have been. Let me know what you think about the show in the comments below!
