A story that could only be told in anime form, Oshi No Ko Episode 1 is the first episode of one of the season’s most highly anticipated new anime. Oshi No Ko is a supernatural drama anime being animated by Studio Doga Kobo and based on a manga written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. The episode is also known as My Star Episode 1.
You don’t often get a second chance at life unless you’re one of a thousand different isekai protagonists. Even fewer are born with a lot of privilege in their second chance, much less to the person they adored the most when they lived. So what if she was 16, and you were much older than her? The age difference doesn’t matter anymore because, well, you’re dead. But also because you have been reborn as the son of the same 16-year-old idol.
Gynaecologist Gorou Amemiya did not think his life would turn out to be this way when he agreed to help out his favourite teenage idol Ai Hoshino with her unexpected pregnancy. One thing led to another, and he was dead, only to come back to life again as her son with all his memories intact. He now has the privilege and closeness to Ai that he desires, but the situation is much different now, and he can’t exactly hit on his own mother. Or can he? You never really know with anime.

This is going to be a hard thing to talk about because you hopefully already read the plot synopsis. What else can one say about a show whose major plot point involves an adult being reborn as a teenager’s son, a teenager whom he had a lot of affection for? I guess the only thing there is to say is also something manga readers would tell you- there is a lot more to the story than meets the eye, and be prepared to have your minds blown when the proverbial hits the fan.

So, who are you rooting for in this show? Is it the adult gynaecologist who is lusting after a 16-year-old idol? Is it the idol who has much more to her than we realise and is hiding a very big secret from every single one of her fans and admirers? Is it the newborn baby who has malice in his eyes? Is it a secret fourth character? This is going to be a complicated show to talk about, which is in no way a bad thing. Let’s hope the adventure is a good one!
