Oscars 2023 Red Carpet Best Dressed Stars, From Angela Bassett to Harry Shum Jr

Award shows are rife with exuberance and excitement, and the Oscars 2023 Red Carpet images show exactly that. The prestigious award show is presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and, is honouring the best films released between March 1 and December 31, 2022.

This time, nominees have gone all out with their outfits. Couture fashion, well-fitted corsets and bespoke suits were all the rage at this edition of the Academy Awards. Salma Hayek’s rust-coloured dress or Halle Berry’s white dress studded with rose gold roses (literally) are just the beginning of the kind of high fashion present at the Oscars.

Best Dressed Stars on the Oscars 2023 Red Carpet

Michelle Williams

Nominated for the critically acclaimed, The Fablemans, the actor was seen wearing a Chanel long gown, with a cape that gave host Ashley Graham some serious vindication for her own.

Janelle Monae

The person that never disappoints when it comes to fashion is Janelle Monae. She is wearing a black well-fitted corset and a skewed orange skirt hugging the silhouette.

Michelle Yeoh

Michelle Yeoh, looks like a princess in this Dior dress. She is wearing a flowing white gown with a sheer sleeve and some stunning diamond earrings. Her princess vibe comes totally from the attitude she is carrying herself with at this Awards ceremony.

Harry Shum Jr.

At least, it’s not boring. But it’s interesting and maybe a homage to his role in the critically acclaimed, Everything Everywhere All At Once. The suit jacket is definitely more indicative of the chef’s uniform he was wearing in the film. However, the silhouette is making the suit more interesting than just a normal tuxedo.

Elizabeth Olsen

The internet’s queen, and the Scarlet Witch, she looked absolutely magnificent in this black shiny dress. The low-cut cowl neck and the details at the back truly make this piece iconic. The actor is wearing a Givenchy dress and Cartier jewellery.

Ariana DeBose

Always pushing the fashion needle forward, this actor wore a stunning low-cut dress with strong shoulder pads and sheer long and sequined sleeves. This is a custom Versace with a fantastic slit in the front, giving the actor a strong and dominant silhouette.

Cara Delevingne

Once again here to make people question their sexualities, Cara Delevingne stuns in a flared red gown with a slit in the front. The draping of the fabric, and the strong single sleeve makes her dress all the more appealing. In the perfect blood red colour, the actor makes her presence known.

Lady Gaga

Obviously making a statement on the carpet, Lady Gaga wore a Versace dress, originally brought on the runway by Gigi Hadid. However, the artist made this dress her own, by pairing it with a strong eye look and a red lip. The corset is extremely well-fitted and the sleeves incredibly contrasts with the necklace.

Florence Pugh

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. This actor took inspiration from the film premiere of Don’t Worry Darling and continued with this silhouette. It is a Valentino dress in what many people are calling risky because she is wearing shorts.

Jonathan Majors

Finally! A different coat look. Jonathan Majors takes it back in time with the vintage collar, tie and suit jacket. Resembling the tailcoat from the late 1800s, this jacket is a modern look at the fashion piece. In any case, the actor managed to bring some diversity into the conventional fashion pieces male actors and performers generally bring to the awards.

Ana de Armas

Ana de Armas always shows up classy and clean. While this silhouette becomes flowy below, the top is extremely well-fitted and shimmery to match her skin tone. Additionally, the nude makeup look to match her natural look is fantastic.

Angela Bassett

This purple piece is a direct homage to the purple-ness from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Additionally, the necklace, earrings and sleeves make the dress more interesting while also leaving it classy and fun.

Halle Berry

Halle Berry’s amazing gown with a thigh-high slit and rose-gold details makes the dress a more stunning piece. Additionally, the hair and make-up have made the whole outfit a stunning visual piece.

Tems

Wearing a dress from Lever Couture, this artist effectively swept the floor with other attendees and her long train. There is a strong silhouette and the contrast in the outfit makes her looks iconic.
