The Oscars are undoubtedly the most prestigious and eagerly anticipated award ceremony in the film industry. Year after year, movie buffs and cinephiles worldwide tune in to watch the biggest movie event, where the best in cinema is celebrated in its true spirit. Therefore, As we gear up for the 95th Academy Awards in 2023, here are some of the most anticipated moments from Oscars 2023.
Here’s What you Can Expect From Oscars 2023
1. Best Actor Category
The competition for this year’s Best Actor trophy is at an all-time high. From Brendan Fraser’s heartbreaking performance in Darren Aronofsky’s Whale to Austin Butler’s stunning portrayal of Elvis Presley, the odds for the biggest award of the night have never been so close. In retrospect, both actors are the leading contenders for the golden trophy, with each winning a major accolade for their performance during this award season (SAG and Golden Globe Awards respectively).
However, we can also expect some last-minute surprises from the prestigious award ceremony, which can turn the tide in the favour of other nominees. For instance, Paul Mescal’s subtle and heartfelt Aftersun saga, along with Colin Farrell and Bill Nighy’s incredible portrayals can lead to some dramatic conclusions at the 95th Academy Award.
2. The RRR Effect
Even though the most talked about film of the year only received a single nomination, there is no denying its grandeur. RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, generated a plethora of reactions from the west and received universal acclaim worldwide. The fans of the Rajamouli epic were eagerly anticipating its Best Internation Feature nomination but were disappointed with the snub.
However, with a sure-shot win probability for Best Original Song Naatu Naatu, there is no end to their excitement. The chartbuster dance-off is all set to make history for India with its nearly solidified chances of victory at the Oscars 2023.
3. Everything Everywhere All at Once Breaking Records
The most nominated film of the year, Everything Everywhere All at Once, received a stellar 11 nods in different categories. Directed by the Daniels, this absurd yet genius work of art has literally everything in store to create a new record at the 95th Academy Awards.
As of now, only three films have won 11 categories at the Oscars. Including, Ben-Hur (1959), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003), and Titanic (1997). Even though the film has received two nominations in the same category (Best Supporting Actress), it can still create a historic record at this year’s ceremony.

4. The Top Gun Maverick Story
In the slightly altered words of Steven Speilberg, Tom Cruise single-handedly saved cinema this year. The magnum opus return of the good old fashion celluloid hero, who can do absolutely nothing wrong in his arc, paved the pathway for the comeback of big-screen movies. And even though the Academy tries to stay away from commercial blockbusters, Top Gun Maverick had all the elements of a brilliant story, that eventually garnered 6 nominations for the film including Best Picture.
Therefore, the least Oscars can do this year, is to return the gratitude in its right form. To put it simply, Tom Cruise, not only deserves the array of awards this year but is also one of the most fan favourites.
5. The Return of Jimmy Kimmel
After hosting the award ceremony for back-to-back years, popular talk show host Jimmy Kimmel will mark a hattrick of leading the award ceremony this year. Notably, ever since the Academy Awards decided to go hostless, there has been a significant decrease in its TRP ratings.
However, this might not be the case this year, as Jimmy Kimmel brings back his usual dose of comedy and nuance to the biggest night of Hollywood.
6. Mix-Ups and Fiasco’s
Ever since the slap gate scandal last year, the factor of unpredictability is pretty high for Oscars 2023. Moreover, one can also expect some over-the-top sketches and borderline jokes, that are surely going to be a reminder of the incident between Will Smith and Chris Rock.
