Offset Opens Up About Getting Back To Normal Life After Being Shot In The Leg

Offset has drawn public attention since being shot outside a Detroit casino hotel. The wound to his leg was nonfatal. New details have also emerged about his financial troubles, including substantial debt.

Offset recently discussed his post-shooting life on the Creators Inc. Podcast, shedding light on how the altercation escalated from a verbal exchange to gunfire. He provided insight into the incident during the April 2025 appearance.

Offset performed a concert shortly after the shooting. He received treatment at a nearby hospital for nonfatal injuries. He said returning to normalcy was straightforward. TMZ reported the podcast was recorded about a week later, with Offset appearing with an IV still in his arm.

His financial issues have also come under scrutiny since the shooting. A different casino hotel pursued the rapper for unpaid debt. A contract clause allowed the casino to withdraw funds directly from his account if needed. Unable to contact him, the casino attempted the withdrawal but failed due to insufficient funds.

Offset explained his quick return to work in an interview cited by Billboard. The shooter, rapper Lil Tjay, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge and released after posting a $500 bond. Asked on the podcast how he managed a concert despite his healing wound, Offset replied it was simple: He had a bed installed in his G5 private jet, lay down for the six-hour flight, slept and felt fine.

The rapper has resumed normal activities and plans to release new music soon. Creators Inc. host Andy Bauchman expressed shock that he performed in a wheelchair just days after the shooting, opting to work rather than rest.
