Oasis Teaser: The Turbulent Lives of Three Friends

Oasis (오아시스) is an upcoming period youth Korean drama that is set to release this year. The series is directed by Han Hee and Yoon Sung-shik and Jung Hyung-soo is the screenwriter. The plot of the series will centre around the life of three youngsters who go through the ups and downs in life to fulfil their dreams and how they maintain their friendship and love.

The series will star Jang Dong-yoon as Lee Doo-hak, Seol In-ah as Oh Jung Jin / Sophia and Choo Young-woo as Choi Cheol-woong. Filming of the new drama began in September 2022. The show is scheduled to release on KBS2.

The first teaser of the drama was released today via J Wide Company’s Instagram handle. In the short teaser, we get an overview of what to expect in the upcoming series. Jang Dong-yoon, Seol In-ah, Choo Young-woo are the lead actors in the story, and the plot revolves around their friendship. The three of them take up the roles of young students in South Korea, a time when the country was facing a great deal of social problems.

The drama will be set during the unsettling years of the 1980s and 1990s in South Korea. During that time, society was in shambles, and people’s intentions were questionable. The three young friends will have to withstand the test of time in an era filled with wrong social values.

Lee Du-hak, a poor high school student who is known for his compassionate and charming personality falls in love with Oh Jung-shin, a transfer student from Seoul. The young lovers’ lives soon go south when Lee Du-hak gets himself involved in dangerous situations which lead to conflicts. To avenge his father’s death, the young man becomes a “political ganster”, which makes his life worse. The helpless student is sent to prison, and his life changes forever.

Meanwhile, Choi Cheol-woong and Du-hak have always been best friends since childhood. Cheol-woong also falls in love with Jung-shin, which creates a rift between the three friends. Nevertheless, all of them come together to fight against injustices that the system has thrown upon them.

The upcoming drama is scheduled to release in March 2023. A confirmed date has not been announced yet.
