The series takes place during the night that Notre Dame burned. It’s about the destiny of men and women who have their own fire to put out. As the Paris firefighters try to stop the flames from spreading in the Cathedral.

The show also follows characters being put through the wringer, where they will have to fight each other, love each other, come across each other, hate each other, and smile at or help each other. So that, in the end, they may have a chance to start all over again.
It was an event that marked the whole world. On the evening of April 15 to 16, the cathedral of Notre Dame, a true Parisian jewel, was burning down in flames. Stunned, the whole world held its breath in front of this building which threatened to collapse. Notre Dame series returns to this tragic night, told through the fate of several characters ridden by their own inner demons.

The series tells from the inside, the drama of the night in the heart of a burning cathedral, alongside the Paris firefighters who are fighting the fire but, also shows the impact of this fire on different people across the country. The series starts with a character asking one of the characters named Alice if, she remembers what she was doing on the day of Michael Jackson’s death.
It is a tragic and one of the most memorable events in history, and people exactly remember what they were doing, when they heard the news of his demise. Little do they know that they will be reliving another impactful event, which will change the course of their lives.
The story is told through, General Ducourt, a righteous and upright man at the head of the Paris fire brigade unit, haunted by the recent death of his son during an intervention. Alice plays the latter’s girlfriend, ridden by guilt for having survived the man she loved. Max is a restaurant owner desperately searching for his drug-addicted daughter, while Elena is a young journalist willing to take reckless risks to collect footage of the drama and gain recognition at work.

While the fire is the background for all their stories, where the past will haunt them and shape the decisions they make. The burning cathedral will be the place where they might get some clarity, resolve their issues and hope for a better life, which will be the leading factor in the successful mission of putting out the fire, without any major casualty.
Summing Up: Notre Dame
Notre Dame La Part Du Feu might be based on the unfateful event but the Netflix series is anything about the cathedral fire and strays from the main cause. If anything, I was really annoyed with some characters like Alice and even Max. His storyline looks like a portion of the film Taken 2, where the Superdad will fight anything to find the daughter, who is digging her own grave.
In the case of Alice, I am not sure what the creators even wanted to show, the way she endangered the lives of her teammates so that she can hear some kind words from General Ducourt, was just irritating. The whole sequence of her stalking him was also unnecessary. And the incomplete story of Billy, Colonel Varese and even Bassem, made no sense or addition to the whole plot.

If anything is to be applauded then it’s the reconstruction and its computer-generated images which allow a spectacular dive into the heart of the cathedral. If you were wishing to see some of the brave stories of the people who, put their lives on the line to save the national treasure, then I am sorry, but you will be left disappointed.
Notre Dame is currently streaming on Netflix.
