Ninja Kamui Episode 9 Review: This episode gave us a massive twist, which was unexpected. This action series is brought to us by the director of Jujutsu Kaisen, so let us see how the 9th episode went in detail below.
Ninja Kamui Episode 9 Overview
Ninja Kamui is a captivating Japanese anime series brought to life by E&H Production and Sola Entertainment, with a touch of executive flair from Williams Street. Making its debut on Adult Swim’s Toonami lineup in February 2024, this show has been eagerly anticipated since its announcement in May 2022. Steering the series is director Sunghoo Park, while the iconic character designs come from Takashi Okazaki.

Ninja Kamui first got everyone buzzing when Adult Swim dropped a teaser trailer at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2023. Other than that, the video game version of Ninja Kamui, called Ninja Kamui: Shinobi Origins, is set to come out in the second quarter of 2024.
The theme song, “Vengeance,” by Coldrain, sets the stage as the opening of the show.
I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

Ninja Kamui Episode 9 Review and Recap: Joseph’s Game

The episode starts with Emma giving a rundown of the methods used for the ninja gears, praising the technology and engineering behind it. Even though she considers AUZA an enemy, she can’t help but acknowledge how advanced they are with their production.
But while the team from the hero side is getting along, people at AUZA are falling apart. Joseph, who is very much a narcissistic megalomaniac, thinks that the world is a video game. He regards humans as characters in a game and treats the world like a huge simulation. Thus, he just wants to be the only player or God who can control everything that is happening in the world. On the other hand, Yamaji, who is definitely evil himself, at least still has some values in him. From their interaction or disagreement, it is clear that they do not see eye to eye, and very soon, there is going to be a fallout amongst them.

Somewhere else, Zai, whom we have not seen much, is getting ready for something. I still do not understand why Yamaji is holding Zai back when he is clearly stronger than Higan. If Zai were to handle things from the beginning, then AUZA would have had more chance to win the whole thing much earlier. But I suppose there are some things that we are still unaware of. Hence, for now, the task of handling Higan and Emma falls into the capable hands of Big D.
The fight that ensues is definitely very intense and very hype. It’s an all-out action warfare that will keep you on the edge of your seat. But at the same time, it did feel unrealistic as the plot armour was very strong with this one.
The ending, however, was unexpected, and I never saw that kind of conclusion arriving. I was very not-so-pleasantly surprised, but I must admit that doing things this way left more of a lasting impression than if they had gone with any other route.

Verdict
Today’s episode was action-heavy, even funny at times and surprisingly tragic towards the end. We are slowly inching closer to the end of this vengeful journey. From what I have seen till now, it is confirmed that Joseph is more of a villain than anyone in the ninja association, and hopefully, we will see him get the ending he deserves at the hands of Higan.
