Nineteen to Twenty: What is the Korean Teen Reality Show All About? Release Date, Concept, Trailer and More

Netflix never slows down when it comes to putting out reality competition content, but the Nineteen to Twenty Korean series (열아홉 스물) steers clear from from its usual choice of explicit representation. How so? Well, isn’t that the question of the hour indeed. The title itself sheds light on its main soft-hearted coming-of-age concept.

The young romance reality series is set to introduce many heart-fluttering moments that are bound to take the audience on a time travelling trip into their own nostalgic memories of first loves and crushes. Although some netizens have already declared that they share mixed feelings for the upcoming show, we won’t know what it truly holds for us till it’s finally out on the platform. Created by Kim Jae-won, Kim Jung-hyun and Park Su-ji, the swoon-worthy web series drops this July. Let’s dig up some dirt on it before it releases.

Nineteen to Twenty Cast

In addition to the young adult contestants in the Korean reality show, Cho Kyu-hyun aka Super Junior Kyuhyun, Kim Ji-eun, AKMU Lee Suhyun and Jeong Sewoon will be taking centre stage as the hosts of the Netflix premiere. The first three episodes introduced the following contestants – four boys, Moon Se-yeon, Lim Jung-yun, Oh Sang-won and Lee Ji-min, and four girls, Jeong Seo-young, Choi Seo-hyeon, Noh Hee-ji and Choi Ye-rin. Two new additions also came on later, namely Jeong Ji-woo and Kim Pyeong-seok.

Nineteen to Twenty Plot/Storyline

Standing on the cusp of adulthood, the forthcoming K-content will feature young adults living through their last week as teens and first week of twenties together. This transition also marks the initiation of their free and independent lives, but all that inner turmoil can’t help in keeping their emotions in check either. Living out their first set of “firsts” in adulthood, the show will navigate through their changing lives and how they settle into this transition well.

Like many other reality TV titles that came before this on Netflix, this one, too, holds up just the one rule that bars these individuals from dating. And yet again, like always, when something is prohibited, the people in question only want to test the limits more by breaking the rules listed out. This desire only becomes more pronounced when you’re a young adult, still adjusting with your rebellious spirit before you take on more responsibilities on your shoulders.

The heart-racing context of the show will catch the cast members experience the “Friends-to-Lovers” scenario as they embark on many fun-ridden adventures along the way. Conversely, a few others will hold on to their breaths and await their final departure from the school setup of the show to finally pursue their love interests. As soon as they hit adulthood and enter their 20s, they’ll be moved to “House 20”, where they’ll be free from any kind of restrictions and can finally follow their hearts’ will. Unravelling possibly the ultimate best moments of their youth, the series hopes to leave the audience with tingling feelings and butterflies in their stomachs.
