Despite emerging from globally sundry conversations and origin points, SM Entertainment’s hit boy group members have again found their way back to each other in the NCT 2023 Connection Trailer, releasing on August 12, 2023 (KST). Two days ago, the official social media pages of the group had intimated us of the group’s upcoming album’s schedule, and the trailer drop being the next step along the way only further heightens NCTZENs’ excitement.
Releasing this month itself, NCT’s fourth album Golden Age will be a fated event meant to reunite all 20 members of the group residing as puzzle pieces of the group’s four fixed subunits – NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV and now even NCT DoJaeJung, alongside the rotational unit NCT U. The Connection trailer released today acts as a soulfully aesthetic reminder of how each member of the group comes from a different background and upbringing, and has yet found a family in their fellow group mates under the banner of SM Entertainment.
Glimpses of each subunit’s representatives are captured in the fast-moving trailer video. Different locations find Johnny, Taeyong (127), Ten (WayV), Jeno (Dream), Doyoung (127), Renjun (Dream), Mark (127, Dream), Jaehyun, Jungwoo (127), WinWin (WayV), Chenle, Jaemin (Dream), Haechan (127, Dream) and others on their sole paths as a sombre tune plays in the background with Jaehyun’s melodious vocals affectionately comforting us.
NCT U has previously released a song with a similar title, coNEXTion (Age of Light) through the NCT LAB project in 2022. Doyoung, Mark and Haechan had lent their voices to this electrifying track, while former NCT member Shotaro had put on his dancing shoes for it and stunned the viewers with his stellar performance, he’s no longer a member of the group.
As part of the SM 3.0 shift, the entertainment label had announced earlier this year that the group’s “unlimited expansion” concept would be terminated with NCT Tokyo’s debut as the final subunit announcement of the group later in 2023 (through the survival show NCT Universe : LASTART). Shotaro, on the other hand, will be debuting with Riize members (alongside Sungchan, a fellow ex-NCT member) in September.

Although the old song may not share any ostensible connection with this trailer, it sure does remind us of an era gone by. The forthcoming fourth full album will kickstart the NCT 2023 promotions. In another news, the full lineup is also set to perform at their standalone concert NCT Nation: To The World, beginning on August 26, 2023, so we can expect them to drop some spoilers for us there before the album release date.

The group’s grand reunion will be commemorated on August 28, 2023 with the release of their 4th full album titled Golden Age at 6 PM KST. It’s set to have two title tracks – Golden Age, its MV releasing on August 23, and Baggy Jeans video, dropping on the 28th. The beloved 7th Sense unit (NCT U), with Taeyong, Ten, Doyoung, Jaehyun, and Mark, is also ready to make its highly anticipated comeback with a new track in this album.
