My Name is Gabriel Episode 4 Recap
The episode brings a new guest after Bo-gum’s time as Gabriel ended in the previous episode. The new guest on the show is the versatile Yeon Hye-ran who is making her variety show debut. Following her interview about the kind of Gabriel she would like to be, she is given a ticket to Chongqing, China.
Hye-ran soon flies off to Chongqing, where she is surprised by how quickly the show has begun when a stranger at the airport hands her an envelope. Looking just as clueless as Bo-gum in the first episode, she quickly scans the QR code in the envelope and makes her way to her Gabriel’s house, while taking in the city’s scenic beauty.

She soon arrives at the apartment, and following that badly drawn map, she soon arrives at her new house. Her Gabriel’s mother opens the door for her and Hye-ran enters her new life for the next 72 hours. She is now a mother of a 4-year-old boy and is married to a gym trainer; with couple pictures on the wall that fascinate her soon after she enters.

She is then told that she is a manager at a hotpot restaurant and begins her day by dropping her child at school, followed by going to work. Hye-ran is amused and tries to settle into her role while asking the husband as many questions as she can about her new identity- Qiu Qianyun. She then ends the day and doses off to sleep.
Hye-ran begins the next day as she has been told about and puts on her uniform before getting some breakfast prepared by the mother. While the mala makes up for a spicy breakfast, she quickly finishes it before leaving. The husband drives her to the school where she drops the child after which he drops her to the restaurant where she works.
However, it is not just any other hotpot restaurant, by the Guinness World Record holder for being the biggest hotpot restaurant. Everyone is shocked upon seeing the place while Hye-ran’s reaction is filled with surprise. Calming herself down, she soon makes her way inside, where she is greeted by her friends who take her through the schedule.
She is first to have her attendance marked when the gathering takes place. While Hye-ran tries her best at this stage while trying to memorise her new name, she somehow gets through it. Soon, she is assigned the area she is in charge of and sent to work. While remembering the seats was not an easy task, Hye-ran soon made her way to the area and began checking the area.
Hye-ran is then asked to arrange the tables in a certain order, and soon the customers begin pouring in. She soon settles into her role and with being in a role where she is to help everywhere possible, and can quickly work her way through. Soon, it is time for the employees’ meal and she is taken to the place where everyone is preparing dumplings for their meal.

Hye-ran gets more information about Qianyun from her friends and she continues making the dumplings. The meal is soon ready and after after a hearty meal, she heads out with the others for a break time. However, she soon comes across something that leaves her stunned.
Hye-ran’s adventures come to a pause and we are taken back to Myung-soo’s adventures as Vootti, which doesn’t seem to be going too well. After a disastrous night, Myung-soo is taken to another place by Champ who brings him to another friend, as they give him advice on the real soul food of the city.
Myung-soo takes in the advice while enjoying some good som tam along with fried chicken. He connects with Vootti’s ex-monk friends and spreads his charm in their company before returning home. There, he apologises to Jaem about the bad business and the free food he gave away during the day.
Jaem surprises him by showing her support for the same, and everyone is struck by the kindness that she shows for Vootti’s work, irrespective of the condition. This fills him up with new determination to make a change and the next day, he gets advice from his friend in South Korea on Thai food and heads to the market.

Myung-soo grabs some new ingredients and after the prep work for the day’s som tam sales, he brings about new dishes for the family to try. From som tam burger to som tam with fried chicken, Myung-soo charms the family with his dishes. However, they are not ready to bring these dishes to their menu at the moment.

Jaem explains to him that while these dishes are surely nice, having them on the menu at the moment is not an option. Instead, she is ready to think about them when they have their own restaurant where a broader menu would be helpful. Myung-soo accepts her suggestion and heads out to earn his daily wages.
Myung-soo and Su arrive near a university where they hope to hit big with the diverse crowd. Champ too arrives to help them get as many customers as possible, and Myung-soo begins working on the som tam. Regardless of the bad performance the previous day, Myung-soo has got the skills this time as he does a better job.
So good that Myung-soo is able to get a local influencer’s seal of approval for his som tam. This makes him happy as he continues to work hard until the last customer. Soon, it is time for them to close their business and the duo return home.

My Name is Gabriel Episode 4 Review
A new guest who brings more colours to this show, Yeom Hye-ran is surely bringing just as many colours as Park Bo-gum. Enchanting us all with her acting, seeing her as a variety show participant is definitely different, but this is another face that we don’t want to miss.
Meanwhile, Myung-soo’s adventures surely continue, but they are soon to end and we are happy to see the change that has happened in him. While his core character remains that of Myung-soo, Vootti’s goodwill is surely rubbing off on him as he highlights the man’s character through his subtle actions.
Altogether, this was another intriguing episode as we are taken through new sceneries and surpassing old hurdles.
