My Hero Academia Season 7 Episode 16 Recap

Continuing from the chaos, this one begins with Dabi engulfing Gunga Mountain in flames, trapping everyone in the midst of the inferno. At the same time, Himiko unleashes Twice’s duplicates upon the heroes, further intensifying the pandemonium. But she isn’t the only one to emerge from Kurogiri’s portal—Ochaco and Tsuyu follow her through.
They’re soon joined by Tokoyami and Jiro, and together they start strategizing their next move. However, the situation appears dire. Hawks quickly grasps the severity of what’s happening and urges Endeavor to confront Dabi, despite his broken condition. Endeavour, now missing an arm, is far from his peak, but no one else stands a chance against Dabi. Meanwhile, Hawks resolves to take on All For One himself, knowing that if All For One reaches Tomura, it will spell disaster.

During the episode, it’s revealed that Tomura is not yet fully under All For One’s control. All For One must reach him to fully impose his will. Still, even without his master, Tomura is wreaking havoc. Kurogiri, having taken some of Himiko’s duplicates, uses them to disrupt Monoma and Aizawa, giving Tomura his powers back—an ominous turn of events.
Surprisingly, the heroes aren’t the only ones stepping up in this episode but some of the villains like Gentle Criminal.
My Hero Academia Season 7 Episode 17 Review and Recap

Today’s episode was packed with too many things that completely overwhelmed our senses. We are finally shown how Lady Nagant came to join the fight for the heroes even after being heavily injured. She remembered how Izuku asked her to join the good side and reminded her of her heart still having a heroic side. She, thus, comes in just at the right moment to shoot off Shigaraki’s hands and stop him from using his quirks.
Another interesting change can be seen within Shigaraki as well, who is slowly trying to come out of his shell. Not only that, but he is also actively trying to stop the control of All For One. He is shown to be accepting the fact that his Sensei was trying to take control of him and use him for his own goals.

Shigaraki also knew why he was specifically chosen by All For One, hinting at his connection with All Might through Nana Shimura. But this does not mean anything to him, as Shigaraki has his plans. He will approach this whole mission for his own goals, which can only be achieved by the destruction of everything that connects to his house.
The situation in the Gunga Mountains is also not very favorable. All For One is too much to handle for Hawks alone, and Toga is also proving to be a huge problem in such a scenario. Endeavour can’t help as well, as he is too busy facing off against his own son. But just when it seemed that Hawks couldn’t stop All For One from going to Shigaraki, a group of unexpected help came like angels. They not only stopped All For One but also made way for Tokoyami to shine. He easily became the MVP of this episode, and hopefully, the results of his effort will be commendable.

Verdict
This episode was absolutely one of the best episodes of this series, as it addresses many things. We see the struggles of the villains as well, specifically Toga. Toga’s quirk specifically works at its best when she is in love with them, allowing her to utilize their powers. However, we see that she can’t use the power of Dabi, proving she might not have that kind of connection with them even though she is with them.
