My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 2 Review- To Be A Hero

Doctor My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 2

What a fantastic start it has been for this show. Two episodes that got straight to the point and contained displays of heroism that got this show to where it is in the first place. Heroism- this is our word of the day, for this was the basis of this entire episode in different ways. I expect this theme to continue throughout this season and, by extension, this review series. In all the hubbub surrounding My Villain Academia, we might have overlooked that the core of the show is still what makes a Hero.

The main focus of this episode was the #5 Hero, Mirko. She only came into view at the end of Season 4 and immediately became a fan-favourite for multiple reasons, most of which related to her being a beautiful and buff woman with a unique charisma emanating from her at all times. This was her time to shine and showcase that she deserves this attention by being a spectacular Hero, which is exactly what she did. Not only was watching her fight extremely fun, but she also displayed the true spirit of the show- courage in the face of extreme danger.

Kaminari My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 2

There has long been a discussion of the two opposing sides in this show being vastly incomparable in strength. The villains kept gaining ground on the heroes as the show progressed, and especially since All Might retired, they have overpowered the heroes at every point. This episode did wonders with displaying that all was not lost and that despite not being as many as the villains, the Heroes had more than enough strength to take down the forces of evil. Mirko’s battle with Nemus was a shining example of this, as well as the displays of strength from Endeavor and Eraserhead.

After Mirko’s section came an unlikely saviour, who, for some reason, was pushed to the forefront of the attack in the previous episode. Well, there was a very good reason for keeping Kaminari out in the front, and one that absolutely necessitated his presence and just-in-time bravado. He has long been a comic relief character in the show; giving him some weight and responsibilities was a great idea. This also provided a lot of fuel to KamiJirou fans, which I’m not entirely opposed to.

The aesthetic of the show is one I am a huge fan of. As the show shifts more and more towards the genre of storytelling that it is based on, comic books, it sets itself apart from most other anime in this genre. This show is the closest thing to a western comic book adaptation in anime, and if you were a fan of that style, you probably have a soft spot for this show. This season has had us eating well so far, and both aired episodes have been very high quality. Let’s hope this streak continues!

Verdict
