Netflix is back with the infamous Murdaugh Murders A Southern Scandal season 2 which looks into the case with more depth and follows the trial that finally came to an end. The second season interviews many connected to the Murdaugh family as directors Michael Gasparro and Julia Willoughby Nason return to put an end to all that happened in the county.

This three-episode docuseries continues the investigation and trial of the murders and how substantial evidence shocked the community forever. The series also brings the lives of the Murdaughs and Paul Murdaugh after the boat crash incident into light.

The synopsis of the series reads:

Murdaugh Murders A Southern Scandal Season 2 Review

The heart-chilling case of the murders which happened in a South Carolina community on the night of June 21, 2021, was a shock to the community; however, it also made the Murdaugh family infamous forever. Following season 1, where the family’s deepest secrets came to light along with the murders of Alex Murdaugh’s wife and son, season 2 brings this case to a proper end.

This season not only focuses on what the investigation continued to find but also the alibis and interviews of people related to the Murdaughs. These include the family’s former housekeeper, the caretaker of Alex Murdaugh’s mother, Paul Murdaugh’s friends and ex-girlfriend and others.

These are the people who have not just been through the whole situation themselves, but they have also seen the first season which came out days after the trial was concluded. They bring out the emotional distress they went through as well as the unbelievable result that the trial brought to them.

One of the things I liked about this docuseries is also the fact that it did not focus on the crimes of the Murdaugh family, instead, it brought them to a different light. The Murdaughs may have been evil for many, however, there is no doubt that they too were a happy family who had people who genuinely loved them.

The ones who came out to give their testimony during the trial when Alex Murdaugh was held suspect did not have it easy in any way. They felt the love this family shared which is why the duration of the trial and the final result could not be easily accepted by them.

However, seeing the items belonging to the Murdaughs and Maggie Murdaugh’s infamous turtle lamp being auctioned off with such glee did put me off in many ways. From vacuum cleaners to cameras, everything that was sold in their name shows the impact of the case on the people.

The attitudes of the people that went from seeing them as bad people to later finding themselves looking at the Murdaughs as celebrities really makes you think about what people think of the family now.

Summing up: Murdaugh Murders A Southern Scandal Season 2

Altogether, this was a thrilling docuseries that leaves you wide-eyed at the end when the final evidence changes the story and Alex’s alibi forever. A docuseries worth watching as it not only captures your attention but also leaves you wanting to know more about what really happened on the night of June 21, 2021.
