Monbebes (fandom) set to start 2023 right with Monsta X’s new comeback on the horizon. On December 11, 2022, the Kpop group under Starship Entertainment announced its return to the performing arena with the upcoming mini album Reason. This will be the South Korean band’s twelfth extended play after the 2022 release of Shape of Love.
The group’s fans have found something new to occupy themselves with after an extended break, especially since this marks the group’s return as a whole in a long time. Solo activities for the group have been surfacing now and then but group releases always hit hard, and the same can be said for this sudden announcement.

All five group members Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney, and I.M (also known as Changkyun) are likely to come together for this album, with the eldest member Shown being away for his mandatory military service. Originally introduced as a septet, the Kpop band was put together through Mnet’s reality survival show No Mercy in 2015, with Trespass as their debut performance.
Monsta X’s song-scape has been multifaceted since the beginning and has something for everyone to enjoy. Ranging from hip-hop, electronic, R&B and dance music, they’ve also come out with songs in English, Spanish and Chinese through their collaborations with various global artists like Pitbull, DJ Steve Aoki, Sebastian Yatra, Snoop Dogg and French Montana. The group already has two full English albums under its belt with All About Luv (2020) and The Dreaming (2021), a one of a kind feat achieved by a Kpop group.

The latest musical release from the group came about through the ’93 liner Kihyun, known as the main vocalist of the band, who is famous for his soaring high notes that turn heads. His artistic endeavour came out in the form of his first extended play Youth in 2022, while Voyager was also released earlier this year as his debut single album.

Reason‘s announcement post has already sparked a fire among the band’s fanbase that didn’t see this news coming. The loyal followers are once again ready to splurge on their favourite artists, the sentiment was also expressed through hilarious memes left as replies under the post on Twitter.
