Mission: Yozakura Family Episode 20 Recap

In this episode, Taiyo quickly realizes that he can’t allow Tanpopo to have free rein, as they pose a serious danger to his wife. Without hesitation, he taps into the Yozakura family’s secret techniques and wields his stun gun to keep pace with Shirai. But during the fight, it becomes clear that Shirai isn’t inherently evil—she’s just another tragic victim of unfortunate circumstances.
Shirai drops a bombshell on Taiyo, revealing her connection to his parents. Shockingly, she confesses that she was involved in the deaths of both his parents and brother. Yet, despite this, the relationship wasn’t adversarial. In fact, the Asano couple cared for Shirai like their own daughter. But her life took a dark turn when Tanpopo targeted the Asano family to cover up their experiments, leaving her trapped in a nightmare. Taiyo was also meant to die, but fate allowed him to survive.
As the battle progresses, Shirai’s conflicted actions raise doubts about her true intentions. She seems regretful and burdened with guilt, especially given her close bond with Taiyo’s parents. However, her role in their deaths pushes Taiyo into a blinding rage. His anger almost causes him to lose control of his newfound abilities, consumed by a thirst for revenge. Yet, a brief moment of clarity allows him to regain his focus and continue the fight.
Mission: Yozakura Family Episode 21 Review And Recap

The people at Tanpopo working under Kawashita did not seem that bad when we were first introduced to them. They look like normal people who have fun playing cards and having a feast. But we all know that is not the case. Back in the Yozakura mansion, everyone gets briefed about the whereabouts of Tanpopo. Apparently, their base is on an island called Skeleton, which is 30 kilometres away from the mainland.
We also get to know that there is a massive amount of Hazakura planted on this island as well, so this means the Yozakura cannot fail this time. They must plan their attack, which will take place within a week and work together with the Hinagiku organisation. Taiyo must also train at his level best, and thus, Grandpa comes to his rescue. He is also the one who trained alongside Momo, making him the best person for Taiyo’s development. However, his style of training is definitely far more dangerous than anyone else’s, and the results of it are impressive.

In this episode, we got some interesting insight regarding the members of Hinagiku. Their intention to stop Tanpopo is much more personal than we previously thought. There are some disturbing secrets that tie the key members of Hinagiku, namely Rin, Aoi and Oga together.
However, the highlight of this episode is the fully awakened state called the Blooming of the Yozakura members. It is a trump card that only the people with Yozakura blood can use, but as Mutsumi chose Taiyo, he too should be able to attain it. What Taiyo’s Blooming is and how his power exactly works is something that you will have to find out yourself.
Verdict

Today’s episode showcased a good training segment for our hero. He is finally unlocking his true potential, and we will be able to see him in all his glory in the next episode. How he will deal with Tanpopo and its members, especially his father-in-law, will be interesting to watch.
