Miss Night and Day Episode 2 Recap

The episode begins with Mi-jin dreaming about her aunt Im Sun and the orange kitten (seen in the previous episode). Turns out the missing woman is her aunt and Mi-jin grows up seeing her mother looking for her. It also makes sense why she chooses her name for her 50-year-old self. In the morning, she rushes to leave the house before she turns into Im Sun and begins her job at the prosecution services with the rest of the senior citizen staff.
The other members are Seol Mal-tae, a retired detective, Geum Gwang-seok, Na Ok-hui, a woman with an unknown past and Ko Na-heun, a former soldier. Im Sun’s first job is to clean the building and she takes it on with vigour and intensity. In a fit of dance, she does not notice Ji-woong enter. He saves her from falling and she instantly likes him even more. The viewers get introduced to two new characters – Mi-jin’s best friend Do Ga-yeong and her father, Do Pyeon-gang.
Ji-woong visits Pyeon-gang to rent an apartment and he gets the haunted apartment instead. Mi-jin’s father tries to talk him out of it but Pyeon-gang stops him from going further. Ji-woong ends up taking the place – to Pyeon-gang’s relief. Later, Mi-jin meets her best friend and gets her to put an ad for the missing cat. Ji-woong’s apartment ends up being right under Ga-yeong’s.
He feels an uneasy presence in his apartment at night and decides to work the case instead. He goes through all the routes taken by the perpetrator and keeps his eyes peeled for any clues to show up. In the morning, two of the senior interns get into a fight and Im Sun saves them from being caught. The viewers also see more of Ko Won – a disgraced star who is sent to the same Prosecution Services to work and be out of the spotlight.
As he enters the building, a masked individual runs to throw acid at him but Im Sun reaches quickly and pushes him away, but the acid almost falls on her. However, Ji-woong saves her in time. Her feelings towards him blossom but she hears about his particular personality and decides to not get involved. Right at that time, he ends up at her parents’ establishment with her resume.

She rushes to meet him and waits till she changes back to see him. They share a hilarious conversation when she realises that she lost his documents. She takes him to the local bookshop to find her books and help him get the documents. At the same time, an innocent woman runs from a masked man wielding an axe. She tries hard to run as far as possible but to no avail, he catches up to her and kills her.
Mi-jin and Ji-woong share a moment when he saves her from the falling books. Despite the opinions of others, he seems warmer towards her. The moment comes to an end when he gets a call regarding the murder. He rushes without telling her and as he reaches the crime scene, he is taken back to his childhood where he saw his mother’s dead body taken to an ambulance. It seems he has a personal stake in the case as well. He gets an earful from the other detectives for poking his nose but he pays no heed to it and looks around for clues.
He sees that the blood and footprints are fresh – indicating the perpetrator is nearby. He sees him running away and begins pursuing him. The perp gets into a car and drives away but Ji-woong does not let go of the pursuit. He runs in hopes of catching him at his usual route. Mi-jin, on the other hand, walks home and gets curious about the papers in her hand. She begins reading them and realises it is about the missing women in her neighbourhood. She keeps reading when the perp steps on the gas pedal and zooms at her while Ji-woong shouts her name.
Miss Night and Day Episode 2 Review

The highlight of the episode is Choi Jin-hyuk’s chemistry with Jung Eun-ji as well as Lee Jung-eun. The two young leads seem to be falling for each other faster than expected and we love their little conversations as they expose the true parts of themselves unknowingly. The dark theme of the murders adds mystery to the otherwise light-hearted drama – which is appreciated as well.
Miss Night and Day is streaming on Netflix.
