The new 16-episode series follows a young job-seeker named Lee Mi-jin, played by Jung Eun-ji. She spent 8 years trying to pass the civil service exam and only got part-time jobs. However, an incident causes her to age into a 50-year-old named Im Sun in the day and rejuvenate back into her 20s in the night.

Mi-Jin finds herself in danger after confronting Na Ok-hui, who has been using a fake identity. Meanwhile, Ga-yeong finishes her skin treatment and realizes she’s missed twelve calls from Mi-jin. The last message from Mi-jin instructs Ga-yeong to call the police if she can’t be reached. Instead, Ga-yeong contacts Ji-ung, knowing he can act quickly and cares deeply for Mi-jin.

As Ok-hui chases Mi-jin through the forest, she experiences a breakdown, haunted by guilt over Lim Sun’s murder. Ok-hui hallucinates that Mi-jin is the real Lim Sun. Despite being injured, Mi-jin manages to sedate Ok-hui using fentanyl—the same drug Ok-hui used on her victims—knocking her out.

Ji-ung arrives but initially cannot find Mi-jin, only locating her father’s mobile phone. Searching for clues, Ji-ung encounters the orange cat that started the whole ordeal. Recalling Mi-jin’s belief that cats repay kindness, he follows it. By morning, the cat leads Ji-ung to Mi-jin, who is unconscious.

Ji-ung cradles Mi-jin in disbelief and informs everyone of the situation. As a result, bodies are unearthed, confirming Ji-ung’s suspicions. Two bodies are discovered: Ji-ung’s mother and the real Lim Sun. Ji-ung breaks down, mourning the lost opportunity to reunite with his mother. Mi-jin and her father are taken to the hospital. Mi-jin, still in Lim Sun’s form, can only watch her father from a distance. Her transformation lasts longer than usual, suggesting a lingering task related to her aunt.

It’s revealed that Ok-hui murdered Lim Sun after Lim Sun caught her stealing money and impersonating others. Lim Sun had tried to alert Baek Chul-kyu, but he silenced her. Ji-ung’s mother witnessed Ok-hui with Lim Sun’s body and later worked alongside Ok-hui, who sought to ensure her silence. Eventually, Ji-ung’s mother attempted to do the right thing, leading to her murder. Before dying, she begged for her life for Ji-ung’s sake. Ok-hui recounts this to Ji-ung, trying to provoke him, but he remains stoic.

Ji-ung speaks with a detective intern, expressing no blame and acknowledging the detective’s efforts. He also tells the lead detective with dementia about finding the child’s mother, bringing bittersweet closure. Meanwhile, Mi-jin feels responsible for the chaos, and Ga-yeong comforts her.

After the ordeal, Ji-ung arrives at Mi-jin’s gate. The mood is somber as they both mourn their lost family members. Ji-ung knows about Mi-jin’s condition, having seen her transform while searching for her. Upset that Mi-jin didn’t confide in him, she explains it wasn’t about trust but her difficulty in sharing something she disliked about herself. Mi-jin suggests they break up to avoid burdening him with her problems and to take responsibility for her actions. She also mentions that working with him was only possible because she became an old woman.

Lim Sun and Ko Won provide statements that align well, raising suspicions among other prosecutors. With Lim Sun’s identity proven stolen, Ji-ung protects Mi-jin by threatening to publicize that Lim Sun solved the case. His boss concedes, especially since Ji-ung is set to return to Seoul.

In episode 15’s closing, Mi-jin’s mother struggles to accept her sister’s murder. Mi-jin, in Lim Sun’s form, apologizes for not being recognized and promises never to leave her again. As night falls, Mi-jin reverts to herself, shocking her mother. The final episode is expected to reveal the cat’s purpose and why Mi-jin’s transformation lasts longer each time. A happy ending with Mi-jin and Ji-ung reuniting seems likely.
