In episode 29, the remaining contestants are welcomed back to the MasterChef kitchen but they find the kitchen counters separated by walls in between them. The judges ask them what did they learn from the food truck challenge and what could be the reason for the other team to win. They all answer the key was communication and the judges agreed to it.

They reveal that today’s challenge is all about communication and only through that they can secure their place today. And once again, it is a team challenge where the ‘magic’ will happen in pairs. The six contestants are divided into pairs, where Priyanka & Nayanjyoti are the yellow team, Nazia and Sachin form the red team; lastly, Suvarna and Priya form the blue team.
They were given only 5 minutes to ideate what they were cooking together and after that, they will not be able to see each other. They can only communicate by speaking through the wall between them and making a dish that looks and tastes the same. Along with it, 60 minutes were provided for making the dishes, that they ideated. To get ingredients from the pantry, 3 contestants from different teams were allowed at one time.
Issues started to emerge from the start when the members of the same team, didn’t get the same ingredients. Therefore, they had to improvise again but without being able to ideate together. All the teams decided to go the dessert route as it has fixed measurements and moulded shapes that leave less possibility of error, as compared to savoury dishes which are based on one’s personal preference.
All three teams were having issues with telling each other what to do and following along, and somehow, everyone completed the challenge on time. Priya and Suvarna were called upon first who made avocado soft serve with lemon mousse and mulberry coulis. The dishes were identical in some aspects but in terms of taste, there was a difference in the amount of sugar.
Next were Priyanka and Nayanjyoti, who made apple pie with ginger-flavoured parfait and orange caramel sauce. In terms of presentation, their dishes were almost identical just a difference in the colour of their pies. The judges commended how they plated together by imagining their plates to be clocks and keeping the elements in the same place.

There was a difference in caramel sauce colour as well but the taste was absolutely the same. The judges really liked Priyanka’s apple pie which had the perfect colour and taste. Followed by Nazia & Sachin, who made coffee mocha ice cream with pistachio crumble and orange butter sauce.
In terms of presentation, the judges were disappointed with both dishes. One of the ice creams had also melted and since Nazia didn’t have any sugar, she used white chocolate as a substitute but the sugar level was very low – compared to Sachin’s. The judges liked the ice cream made by Sachin a lot and even called it his best dish.
Final Thoughts: MasterChef India Season 7 Episode 29
The challenge ended with Priyanka’s apple pie being announced as the dish of the day and consequently, she and Nayanjyoti were saved from the elimination round. Therefore, Sachin, Suvarna, Nazia and Priya will have to compete with each other in the black apron challenge and one of them will be eliminated from the show.
For the first time, all the contestants going for the elimination, truly deserve to be there. I don’t think anyone would mind if more than one contestant among them is eliminated. None of them were able to prove their culinary skills so far and on the basis of how they perform tomorrow, their fate in the show will be decided.
