MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 8 Recap: Spice Up the Relay

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 8 is titled ‘Chili Team Relay’. Aldo and Melanie won’t be a part of the challenge as their last dish helped them enter the immunity challenge. The rest 20 cooks have to participate in the relay challenge and form 4 groups of 5 people. The team that makes the best dish will directly enter the immunity challenge with Aldo and Melanie.

Judges Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo, inform the contestants that every cook from each team will get 15 minutes to cook. They will get 45 seconds to explain the dish and what to do to the next cook. The teams are divided into Red, Green, Grey and Purple. The overall time to cook the dish is 75 minutes.

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 8 Recap Contains Spoilers

In MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 8, the contestants have to hero chillies in their dish. The Red Team consists of John (captain), Sarah, Tommy, Christina and Sashi. Julie (Captain), Miloni, Michael, Billie and Alvin are in the Grey team. The Green team includes Harry (captain), Montana, Steph, Mindy and Ali. The purple team includes Matt (captain), Jenn, Daniel, Keyma and Max.

The Red, Green and Grey team have a smooth relay and a comparatively calmer cook than the Purple team. Matt from the purple team decides to cook tacos. However, the cooks from his team are confused and do not understand what should be done with the salsa and chillies on the table. Max is the last person from their team who decides to scrap the plan to serve tacos. He serves the judges Naked Tacos, which fails to leave a great impression.

Red Team serves Sri Lankan Chicken Curry with Rice and chilli sides. However, their chilli jam has flaws. The Green team makes Sweet chilli chicken wings, and judges enjoy that a lot. However, the Grey team serves the best dish in the Chili Team Relay – Thai chicken curry. Thus, Julie, Minoli, Michael, Billie, and Alvin win the challenge and join Aldo and Melani for the next day’s immunity challenge.

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 8 has its first MasterClass. Chefs Andy Allen and Jock Zonfrillo take the Throwback Mystery Box Challenge, which happened on Monday. Rosheen Kaul also graced the Masterclass. She showed the cooks how to make wood-fired mackerel with charred tomato sambal.

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 8: Final Thoughts

The Team Relay challenges in MasterChef are always fun and stressful. It was good to see the coordination going well between the Red, Grey and Green teams. The Purple team messed up completely. It was weird to see them serve just the random stuffing on a plate as “naked tacos”. But I hope the contestants give their best in the elimination round. Till then, let’s wait to see who wins the immunity.

In the next episode, Julie, Minoli, Michael, Aldo, Melanie, Billie and Alvin will compete against Matt Stone for the immunity from Sunday’s elimination.
